An average excerpt:
“Trump’s voters get him because not only is he we, but we are he. We were not snowflaked-for-life by effete professors who themselves never had negotiated tough life-or-death serious deals. Instead we live in the real world, and we know how that works. Not based on social science theories, not based on “conceptual negotiating models.” But based on the people we have met over life and always will hate. That worst boss we ever had. The coworker who tried to sabotage us. We know the sons of bums whom we survived, the dastardly types who are out there, and we learned from those experiences how to deal with them. We won’t have John Kerry soothe us by having James Taylor sing “You’ve Got a Friend” carols.”
My unedited reply:
Trump saw many of the things we’ve bitched about for decades. He saw it through his own eyes and with his own solutions. Our NATO allies are recalcitrant children living in the basement, England and Poland are the only ones worth a damn. You’ve heard me say a thousand times before we need to pull out of Germany. NATO is no longer an alliance, Europeans feel entitled to our protection. Just like recalcitrant children living in projects.
Trump saw US manufacturing being moved overseas and understood how and why it was being done and how and why it could be fixed. They need our money, we can withhold money and make them dance to our tune. China will come crawling, begging to be allowed to do business with us before the end of his first term (depending on the midterms.) Imagine what he will do to the EU in his second term.
Trump has also figured out the media, 60 minutes didn’t get anything past him last night. Had that been a boxing match the communist interviewer would have needed both eyes cut just so she could see the next combination coming. Trumps mocking of Brawlwy-Ford merely served to get the soundbite to the ears of millions of Americans, even the ones who don’t watch Fox News. Trump plays the media like a Stradivarius.
