“You’re gonna be winning so much, you’re going to be tired of winning!”
Yes, we sure have been “winning” a lot since Donald Trump became president. And here is another way we are “winning”: his administration has given Italian oil company ENI’s US division a lease for exploratory drilling in the Beaufort Sea off the north coast of Alaska.
This will be the first oil company that will be drilling in the Arctic since Shell’s failed attempt in 2015. Shell went through countless hoops from Obama, not to mention environmental protests and finally threw in the towel.
Eni hopes to begin drilling in December from an artificial island such as the one pictured in the featured image.
BOEM’s (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) Walter Cruickshank had this to say:
“We know there are vast oil and gas resources under the Beaufort Sea, and we look forward to working with Eni in their efforts to tap into this energy potential,”
Of course environmentalists claim they weren’t allowed enough of a comment period, but that’s par for the course and we know they are all “thumbs down.”
