So Trump Was Right Again?

“If you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free — and many times adversarial — press,” said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., speaking on NBC’s Meet The Press. “And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time — that’s how dictators get started.”

Well, we had an adversarial press all during the Bush administration and the Regan administration, and we kept on losing individual liberties all during those times because of the bureaucracies and the judiciary, not to mention the Social Democrats. But of course “Reach across the aisle and cite Democrat talking points” McCain blabbers non-sequiturs all the time, as well as goes overseas and talks bad about his government, like that swell old peanut farmer, Jimmy Carter.

But my question for you journalism scholars is “Where is it written that a journalist, or a member of the reporting press, is supposed to be adversarial? Isn’t that the job of the opposition party?” If the press is supposed to be adversarial, and they are adversaries in the stead of the opposition, which by definition is the minority, then it means the press is supposed to be against the will of the people, who voted the majority, or the administration, into office.

Somehow I don’t think news conferences are supposed to take the place of campaign debates. I don’t think a reporter is supposed to take adversarial positions, he is supposed to ask questions. Tough questions? Sure, if it’s something like “How will your tax policies further your aims of increased meaningful employment.” Not “How can you say your policies will work unless they have the support of Nancy Pelosi.?” Or when they use politically correct but legally incorrect terminology like “undocumented immigrants” instead of illegal aliens.

Adversarial by definition is not objective.

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!

Like I intimated above if you’re supposed to take an adversarial position against someone, you are at least figuratively, at the very least figuratively, the enemy. And if the people of the 50 sovereign states voted to place that person in office, you are at least figuratively, at the very least figuratively, placing yourself opposed to those people and their wants, needs and desires.

And so, MSM, the Social Democrat Party thanks you for getting ‘down with the struggle’ by taking adversarial positions against the American people. John McCain has your back, too. But the American people know who their friends are, and who are not their friends. And Donald Trump has your number dialled in so tight your tortured egos are bleeding all over the landscape.

They let it slip yesterday, “It’s the Press’ job to CONTROL citizens thoughts.” I think there was a time in this Nation that reporter would have stretched a rope. I also believe that was a better time purely because of that stretched rope.
