It just absolutely makes no sense to fight a battle you have no chance of winning.

Just don’t bother trying
When you don’t have the numbers; when you don’t have funding; when you only control the House….you only control the legislative branchwith large majorities…you don’t have veto-proof majorities; when you can’t even get a fair shake from the media: well, you should just give up.
Just surrender. Not only should you give up: do your best French imitation, run around showing them your “touchdown” sign. Tell the enemy you are not even going to fight. To further cement your defeat, you should aggressively punish those among you who would foolishly take up the fight.

Yep, that’s the spirit that made America great. Those guys at the Alamo? Idiots. Leonidas and the Spartans at Thermopylae? What were they even thinking?

Our war
What I said above, to aggressively punish those among you who would foolishly take up the fight? “Those among you” are us: those who would restore Constitutional governance to our Republic. The GOP Establishment won’t fight the Statists, but they will do their best to hold us down to keep us from doing so.

We have to kick their butts, just to get the opportunity to kick the Statists butts. So, war it is.

They are dug in against us. They have an iron grip on every aspect of the Republican machine. They’ve systematically thwarted conservatives from having their way in Washington, and they’ve been doing it for a long time.

We cannot win this war. So we should just give up.

I’m just kidding about that.

The Jeb Bush Attack Bimbo
This all came to mind when it came out this week that the Jeb Bush campaign planted a questioner at a “No Labels” conference to ambush Donald Trump. I felt no outrage. I felt something you might call pity. The GOP Establishment has gotten so desperate that they are now doing stupid things. Really, excessively stupid things.

How did it come to this? How did they get so desperate that they would shoot for a sound bite, knowing the bimbo’s identity could not possibly go undiscovered? And since she specifically asked questions that painted her as pro-abortion, how could they imagine this would not blow back on Jeb? This kind of rash and stupid behavior WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED if we never dared to challenge them.

The pioneers are going to catch the arrows. Pioneer anyway.
Mark Meadows had NO CHANCE of succeeding in his bid to force a vote on vacating the Speaker chair. He knew he’d be punished for not obeying business as usual, i.e., “shut up and get in line”. He did it anyway. And he was indeed punished.

Ted Cruz had NO CHANCE of getting the Republican Senate to shut down the government last year. He knew he’d be universally reviled and mocked (by the Republican Establishment). He did his filibuster anyway, and has indeed paid a steep price. He is a virtual outcast in the Party.

Such examples abound of efforts in recent years, by both grassroots and Washington conservatives, that have been stomped on, shut down, sold out, and shunted aside.

They don’t move until you move them
But here’s the thing. We might, indeed certainly will, lose the first 15 battles we undertake against a dug in, fortified, well-funded GOP Establishment.

But on the fifth one, they start getting uncomfortable. On the tenth battle, they wake up at night with cold sweats. By the twelfth one, they are playing defense. On the 15th, they are in full crisis mode and beginning to act rashly and foolishly.

And on the sixteenth battle, we start winning.

Cantor’s gone. Boehner’s gone. McCarthy’s gone. The Speaker race is wide open, and the insiders are scrambling madly to find an Establishment person who can win the seat. In the presidential race, GOP Establishment golden boy Jeb Bush is barely competitive. State governors and legislatures are coming out with bold, fearless governance, often in defiance of the Obamanistas and their agencies and courts.

So, is it worth it to you? Then fight every battle.
If your Republican precinct committee seat is open, take it. Align with other conservative members and throw out the Establishment crowd. If your congressman sides with the Establishment, then actively work to find a good candidate and take him down. Blog, tweet, and share. Every single institution that is associated with the US Chamber of Commerce? Go to war.

It’s not possible until we make the first hopeless, futile defiant spit into their face.

Well done, Ted Cruz and co-warriors.

E Pluribus Unum
The weapons had evolved, but our orders remained the same: Hunt them down and kill them off, one by one. A most successful campaign. Perhaps too successful. For those like me, a Death Dealer, this signaled the end of an era. Like the weapons of the previous century, we, too, would become obsolete.

Pity, because I lived for it.
