COL E M Sayre, 98, of Breckinridge, TX
died 22 October in in his home in Texas.
He was a veteran of three wars, World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross, America’s second highest award for valor, while fighting with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Sicily. He was also in command of the 101st Airborne group ordered to Little Rock by President Eisenhower, and ended his career in the Pentagon
