In a joint town hall with Telemundo and Univision, President Obama made a pledge that his administration will not use Obamacare sign-up data to deport illegal aliens...
In other words, if illegal aliens, whether they overstay a visa or use a visa fraudulently, or just sneak into the country, will not, repeat NOT, be reported to a cognizant authority if they enroll in a program somewhere within the borders of the United States.
“Will we hear from you a pledge, a personal promise, that the information provided in the registration process will not be used for deportation purposes in this country?”
“Absolutely,” Obama said, putting his hand down for emphasis.
“It’s true that the undocumented are not eligible [for Obamacare], that’s how the law was written, but if you are a U.S. citizen or you have a legal presence in this country, you are eligible,” he said. “And none of the information that is provided in order for you to obtain health insurance is in any way transferred to immigration services.”
We will not here beat that dead horse one more time about Obama and his administration being lawless, or him being in violation of his oath of office. That nag has been whacked and whacked and whacked. However, if one needed a shining example, one could do a lot worse than the one above.
There are probably some of you who remember the 9/11 Commission. Might even be a few of you who remember 9/11 itself. As Jay Carney is wont to say “That was a long time ago.”
One of the findings of the 9/11 Commission was that there had been a “wall” set up between the CIA and the FBI so that information vital to national security was not routinely shared. It was, in fact, discouraged. It was popularly referred to as ‘Jamie Gorelick’s wall’ because that particular Clintonista was the instigator, the author of said “wall”. Incredibly….inexplicably….astoundingly….maddeningly, that very same Jamie Gorelick was appointed a member of the 9/11 Commission. But of course, as Hillary Clinton is wont to say “What difference, at this point, does it make?”
The difference it would make is if nothing was learned from 9/11 or from the findings of the Commission.
Whatever your attitude is about “poor”, “innocent”, “deserving”, you-pick-the-adjective migratory peoples who “only want to work” “only want to come to America” “only want to study” or whatever, if you did not learn from 9/11 that information sharing between agencies of the federal government in matters sensitive to national security, public safety and the sovereign authority of the United States as a nation is crucial, and this is especially directed at those of you on the right side of the aisle who continue to insist that the NSA has a legitimate interest in doing everything that it does, then Houston, we have a problem.
If you want to continue to pontificate about Edward Snowden being a traitor, about how we the people, we legitimate, law-abiding documented citizens of the United States of America have to give up a little privacy and share with a federal agency, involuntarily, personal information about us or our activity, then you members
of Congress, members of law enforcement agencies and members of the judiciary with cognizant authority had better make it your business to put a stop to the mad man in the Oval Office.
Else you will be complicit in the construction of his “wall” between the Department of Immigration, or the Department of Homeland Security, or whatever agencies are charged with keeping us safe from terrorist attack by foreign nationals, and HHS or Medicare or whatever agency is facilitating the illegal enrollment of aliens into programs meant for Americans.
In case you don’t recall, the aliens who enrolled in flight schools around the country in the months leading up to 9/11 were successful in their adventures beyond Osama bin Laden’s wildest dreams. And there are those of us out here who do recall how easy it was made for those who wish us harm to accomplish their mission.
