Meet Rafael Dagnesses GOP Candidate for California’s 26th Congressional District

Many will see California in the title of this column and groan and think it’s impossible for a 48 year old political novice Republican to win. Well, as Lee Corso says to his ESPN colleagues predicting the winner of a college football game on Saturday morning College Game Day

Not so fast, my friends

The 26th district was represented by Republican Elton Gallegly from January 1987 to January 2013. Yes, the Democrats gerrymandered enough to win the open seat in 2012, but this district is not like Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills and Nob Hill, San Francisco. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is in or near this district, and the voters here are not averse to electing a Republican.

In 2014 someone who is not a slick career politician should consider that a plus in the minds of many voters. Rafael Dagnesses does need to make his candidacy well known, and get his message out for more voters to know who he is and why he wants to serve the constituents of the 26th as their Rep. in DC. He needs to do this before his opposition trashes him and we know how they operate.

Here are photos and information from his facebook page that reveals his very unique and diverse background and life of service.

Born in Santiago Cuba in 1965, son of Rafael senior a veteran of the Cuban Revolution and son of Elba Dagnesses. Initially arriving in Miami in 1970 and soon there after moving to Los Angeles, Rafael was raised in the area commonly known as Rampart. This of course, by anyone’s account is the inner city. He was witness to what gang and drug violence does to communities and families, the removal of the human spirit by government handouts, the excuses created by poverty to continue in poverty. However, he also learned and was inspired by hard working immigrants – that we lived in a amazing country with the freedoms to push forward and succeed in life despite your origins. Never to be envy of those who have achieved success and to push forward with your own dreams and objectives. That here, in this great nation, anything was possible if you are willing to work hard and stay the course. Rafael’s life story can be written in a book, however, we have provided you with short bullet points of his path in life.

  • Here is Rafael describing why he is running for Congress under the banner ‘Let’s Do This Together’

My name is Rafael Dagnesses, and I’m committed to making your voice heard in Washington D.C. Like you, I want to play an active role in making our community, state and country a safer, better place for all of us to raise our children, run our businesses and the pursuit of happiness.

I want those who are willing to work hard be able to keep as much of the fruits of their labor, I want to assist in the removal of the envy culture we have become. We should, as a people never be envious of others, but rather strive to be the best we can possibly be. I want to inspire those less fortunate who are able bodied, not to allow the government or anyone else to remove their human spirit and become enslaved to the culture of handouts, but rather pursue their dreams and to never give up. If you share my vision, I urge you to connect with me and help make it happen! Together, we can make a meaningful difference– for our families, our communities, and our country. “I want to Inspire not Blame!”

Rafael Dagnesses has served our country well because he embraces three important traits for success: PASSION-COMMITMENT-INTEGRITY. He has wisely brought in Elton Gallegly’s former Chief of Staff, Brian Miller, and Rep. Buck McKeon’s former Chief of Staff, Armando Azarloza to Co-Chair his campaign. There is a lot of work that needs to happen, and if you are moved to support him, and if you are a facebook member, then you can visit his facebook page and click Like.
