Article V Convention Should We Wait For A Better Day?

We currently have the highest Republican representation in 80 years.
More state house and governorships.
That means we are better situated than we have been in over 30% of the entire life of the Republic. Seriously, one third of the Republic has gone by with this evil constantly growing in Washington and now something is strongly in our favor. Why should we be mad at McCain or Boehner who would wait endlessly to kill ObamaCare if we are willing to wait to end federal tyranny? Only if we wish to wallow in hypocrisy can we fault them for exhibiting our faults.

It is never going to get better.

Runaway Convention have you concerned?

Every thing you fear will be formalized at such a convention is already being done and has been given formal sanction by SCOTUS. It is never going to be undone without a change to the structure.

That means amendments. The federal government will never put forth limitations on it’s own power.

That means the states are the only possible cure and we are not ever going to get a better chance.

They spend $4 Trillion per year destroying the moral fabric of our nation. They buy the souls of half the population. They corrupt our children in their schools. It is now or never.

Every thinking person knows a collapse is coming. Unfortunately too many think it will be like hitting the reset button on a video game. Next thing you know we are all wearing wigs and ball room gowns riding in horse drawn carriages.

As Jefferson said, “We are not to expect to be

translated from despotism to liberty in a featherbed.”

Far more likely than a gentle collapse into a gentile atmosphere of cotillions and courtly manners, is an outcome of war, famine and tyranny.

If it comes to war and death and famine and 200 years of dictatorships and who knows what else. Will we be glad we hesitated?

Maybe we even win such a war after how many millions die?

As Virginia debated the purchase of arms against a similar tyrant 238 years ago Patrick Henry said:
They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power.

Politically speaking we are not going to be stronger at any foreseeable point in the future. Our slide into this mess has been slow yet inexorable. We have voted and voted and demonstrated and voted some more. We are betrayed at every turn. There is no white knight coming and if one appears today he will almost certainly be wearing the boot on our neck a year hence.

Fortunately we have not yet arrived at the point where arms are the only option. We have still available a peaceful if risky solution. It doesn’t involve a disinterested knight errant who swings in, saves us from tyranny and then returns to his plow. I doubt any civilization gets more than one Cincinnatus and we have already had ours.

Doesn’t it seem like we should try the last peaceful alternative before we are left with a choice between slavery and war?

The Article V option was included by the same guys who wrote the constitution.

They knew this day would come and they left a light on.

Please, please read Article V of The Constitution. Two thirds of the States legislatures make application to the Congress. The Congress shall determine whether a state convention or the State legislature will ratify the amendment(s). Sounds like the Congress will pretty much be in charge of a Constitutional Convention. Why do you think the Legislature, the Executive and the Supreme Court would abide by new Amendment(s) when they ignore the present Constitution and Amendments?
