Burning Bridges Along the March To Gommorah

MadBritSo the whole gay thing is trendy these days. The lifestyle jumps from our TV screens daily and always in the most sympathetic light possible. Thirteen year old girls see Madonna lay one on Brittany and wow, let the experimentation begin . . . how many years ago was that? There’s been a good bit of slouching since then although the mainstream media and the Hollywood crowd call it enlightenment.

I don’t think the majority of Americans are buying it but a majority of the under 30 crowd say they do. Kids. . . A few weeks back they were adorning their Face Book pages with hearts and all sorts of cute things in support of same sex marriage. They ask how can it be wrong because it’s about equality and love, love, love? Actually, it aint about any of that.

Now I won’t intervene in how people get their jollies in their bedrooms, as long as both (or the gang) are consenting adults. It might be a sin, but as libertarians point out, they are getting what they want and so what? Let God and nature sort them out. It’s not my job.

. . . . BUT,

Recently the Boy Scouts, under intense pressure from the media and financial supporters, decided to change their motto. Now, a Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent As Gay As I want To Be. No sooner had the Boy Scouts caved and up jumped the California Senate to pass a law to remove their tax exemption because, well, the Scouts didn’t cave enough. It didn’t even take a week. Hey wait a minute, these are kids and they are sharing tents.

When you lose the Boy Scouts, you’ve lost a lot. Another victory for the dark side. Another good thing kicked into the gutter. Traditional Americans look around and say, I can’t recognize my country. The Left says welcome to fundamental transformation. That’s what this is all about.

Some time this month, the Supremes are going to rule on the the Defense Of Marriage Act (DOMA). The Gay lobby and the Obama administration are certain it is unconstitutional. No less than that ethical giant, Attorney General Eric Holder, has said it violates the 14th Amendment. When was the last time Holder was right on anything? Does anyone really think the framers of the 14th had any intention of guaranteeing homosexuals (anything homosexual was an absolute taboo back in the day) the right to a marriage recognized and given full faith and credit by the states.

Further, if one argues for same sex marriage under the 14th it will erase the taboo that remains on close relatives marrying. Only the wingnuts would dare go there. The very idea is offensive to the citizenry of most states and inconsistent with the state’s own laws and policies. Let California do as they will on same sex marriage but it should bear no weight in Texas, just like a California license to practice law wont cut it in Texas.

Republicans should be holding the bridge that is traditional marriage. I’ve heard the arguments that it is too expensive politically. If we can’t stand for this then we stand for nothing. Our libertarian friends are urging us to just get government out of it. As if we could some how magically handle all the domestic issues that go along with marriage. That’s a pure libertarian argument and this one is nonsense. We aren’t angels and defending marriage is a battle we can’t afford to lose. Keep marriage between a man and a woman and let the tiny gay minority continue their never ending argument with God. For the rest of the country, marriage is settled law. Right, Justice Roberts?

Some of them (most of them?) call themselves “gay.” I’m gettin’ close to 60, and I have family members who are “gay,” and have met many “gay” persons. Many of them are very nice people. But, I’ve yet to meet a happy one. I, too, do not care what they do to one another behind closed doors — a subject not to be discussed, apparently, in polite company because, well, they do things to one another with their organs and orifices that just can’t be talked about in polite company. What they do to one another with their organs and… Read more »

You are absolutely right, TG – the ones pushing the BSA thing could give a fig about survival in the woods , they are about the antithesis of everything BSA used to stand for. The only question is, will the IRS, now under the spotlight, dare to go after the Southern Baptists, who are doing what you wish the Republicans would do – stand for something. Here’s what the Republicans will do – wait to see what SCOTUS does and say “Well, it’s the law of the land.” Whichever way it goes. What they COULD do, is to make the… Read more »

Bob, you’re right, a little more fight from Boehner is needed.

It’s an abomination, TG. In barely over 40 yrs those who have no moral compass have managed to undo thousands of years of mankind’s recorded history. I’m talking about not only being near to destroying the traditional (and a key to society’s survival), but abortion. Roe v Wade enabled the wholesale murdering of the unborn, something that almost all societies had previously found repugnant. The soft easy lifestyle of the late 20th and early 21st century has essentially neutered the survival instinct of mankind. P.S. I’ve been wanting to ask Justice Roberts if it is still up to the people… Read more »
