America’s Killing Fields: Gun Free Zones

The gun argument is now lost because a majority of the American people are willing to turn everything over to the government. Oh, to be wrong but these days, emotion rules, and the emotions are running sky high over the Sandy Hook school shootings.

The gun-takers may well write up some fancy language to enable the ultimate trashing of the Constitution. They can expect it will be, shall we say problematic, to actually collect them from the citizenry. It will be impossible to take guns from the crooks and crazies.

America is on a glide-path that is out of our hands and has been for many years. Think back to the Branch Davidian nut-job in Waco and those 25 little kids who were burned alive. Not many cried for them when the government doomed them with a military style assault. In revenge, two other crazy persons destroyed the federal building in Oklahoma City. President Clinton, who escaped all blame for Waco found his sensitive side to soothe a grieving nation over Oklahoma City. America ate it up.

The hits just keep on coming with the latest being in Newtown Connecticut. How can so many miss the irony in all this fear and outrage against guns? Just look at the response by law enforcement in the little town. Good heavens, it looked like a full company of special ops came out, toting their new stimulus purchased Colt M4s with $1500 Trijicon scopes. I saw the locals, the state police, ATF, FBI and tons of swat types. Seriously, the ATF and FBI were on scene in force within a couple of hours.

What to make of this incredible show of force and federal over-reach when one on-site, trained person with a weapon could likely have prevented most or all of the killing? Instead, Americans will have to take what solace they can find in the words of another teary president, Barack Obama. Eat it up, America. You’ve been played, again.

God bless the little children and their teachers, now departed. God help the rest of us because America is becoming a God free zone. The One, the authentic One, who put us here will not return for us until the horror ahead does its work.

Sandy Hook was in a liberal area – Connecticut. So was Aurora and Columbine. So was Tucson. Unsure about V. Tech but probably. For sure it was a typical ‘university’ community. When the families and residents of an area hit by something like this realize that the chances of their loved ones being alive today would have been exponentially increased had they not had to sit there defenseless and be slaughtered waiting for the cops and the Army to get there, and when they organize and speak out and refuse to be silenced, things will get better. Unfortunately, they have… Read more »

The local guns laws worked in keeping this nut job from purchasing a weapon. What didn’t work was at home. Has any one found out if there was a locking gun safe in that house? Has anyone found out why a mother, knowing her son had serious mental problems, allowed him access to any firearm? Additional gun laws or seizure of responsibly owned firearms will not solve society’s ills. The shooter could have taken a knife, baseball bat, poison or soap in a sock to kill his mother. What I want to know is what led up to this. Was… Read more »

In the coming renewal of the battle over the 2nd Amendment (Obama: “we can no longer tolerate this any more”) other than words are cheap, two points of comparison. The death total in Newtown Connecticut was 5% of the number of insignificant brown-skinned people in Mexico who died at the hands of guns this same government gave to criminals 100 times more predictable in using them to kill. And as I watched the Obama wipe away that tear, and Jay Carney his glasses, in comparing this to Benghazi and the dead fish handshake and 1000 yard stare offered to the… Read more »

The states and cities have largely been in charge of gun control, and the Court has ruled even the cities can’t ban them outright (which goes largely ignored in some cities…Chicago, DC). It would take some doing for the Congress to do anything sweeping, as I doubt he could even get a Dem majority. So will be interestin to watch. In th meantime, guess what Momma’s getting in her stocking this Christmas?

Karl Denninger followed up with an excellent second post to his one from Dec. 15th. “Solutions for CT: There are Some” “You can claim this change in the law and policy would be ineffective if you wish but in point of fact Israel, in the 1970s, faced a rash of terrorist attacks on their schools. Israel also heard people screaming for more gun control, as we do today. Their government analyzed the problem and decided to do the opposite and as I am advocating here — they trained and armed their teachers instead. What happened? School shootings ceased as… Read more »
