School Bullying By a Teacher

The subject of legislators working on laws against bullying in schools usually seems like an over reach of government interference, but a news report out of Philadelphia yesterday caught my attention. The title of this report, Philly student’s Romney T-shirt likened to a KKK sheet is about Samantha Pawlucy, a sophomore at Carroll High, whose geometry teacher publicly humiliated her by asking why she was wearing a Romney/Ryan T-shirt and going into the hallway to scream and urge other teachers and students to mock her. She screamed the following

Carroll High is a “Democratic school” and wearing a Republican shirt is akin to wearing a KKK shirt.

Samantha said it wasn’t scary but felt weird. In truth it was scary because after reporting this to the principle it was just considered a harmless little joke. The geometry teacher told the class the next day that she can no longer joke around with the class because a student had gotten her in trouble. Samantha Pawlucy was so upset by the teacher’s comments that she left the classroom and hid in the bathroom until the end of the class.

Now, if this was my daughter, she would leave that school, and be enrolled in a private Christian school. Read the entire article and be incensed at how rotten this public school has become. The principal weasels out of accountability by noting that no official complaint has been filed. A spokesman for the teachers’ union, the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, declined to comment.

  1. Ah, yes. Philadelphia. The cradle of Liberty. Actually, what should happen is the patrons of that school should be marching and protesting in front of it demanding not only the teacher be fired but the principal be fired for making a joke out of it.

  2. I’m proud of the young girl for hanging in there. For Philadelphia – the city, the school district, for the teacher union, and that teacher – I have not a single good thing to say. Worthless, base, cheap, un-American..

  3. I’ve been to Philly twice. After the second visit I refuse to ever go back. Long story, not fit for this venue but disgusting never the less.

Kudos to the gal standing up for herself. I wonder what would happen if I showed up wearing my Romney t-shirt at the SEIU union hall here. I probably would be disappeared.
