Romney/Ryan energy plan is “drill, baby drill”

Finally it’s happened. Romney/Ryan has unveiled their plan to make the U.S. energy independent, and as you can see to the excitement of this writer and millions of others, it’s “Drill, baby. Drill.”

The full 21-page plan can be found here, and his campaign should be lauded for all their extensive research. The executive summary is:

A crucial component of Mitt Romney’s Plan for a Stronger Middle Class is to dramatically increase domestic energy production and partner closely with Canada and Mexico to achieve North American energy independence by 2020. While President Obama has described his own energy policy as a “hodgepodge,” sent billions of taxpayer dollars to green energy projects run by political cronies, rejected the Keystone XL Pipeline as not in “the national interest,” and sought repeatedly to stall development of America’s domestic resources, Romney’s path forward would establish America as an energy superpower in the 21st century.

His goal is for the U.S. to become energy independent by the year 2020.  Along with energy independence comes increased national security, millions of jobs, an estimated $1 trillion in revenue, lower energy prices, a stronger dollar and a reduced trade defecit.

The Agenda is:

  • Empower states to control onshore energy development;
  • Open offshore areas for energy development;
  • Pursue a North American Energy Partnership;
  • Ensure accurate assessment of energy resources;
  • Restore transparency and fairness to permitting and regulation; and
  • Facilitate private-sector-led development of new energy technologies

We all know what Obama’s energy “plan” is and has been: destroy the coal industry, regulate the energy industry into oblivion, kill jobs, create 5-year off-shore drill moratoriums, ban uranium mining on federal lands, kill the natural gas fracking industry, dump the Keystone Pipeline Project and throw taxpayers dollars into wind and solar companies who then go bankrupt.

Romney has laid out a “everything is on the table” unlike Obama, who has taken everything OFF the table except wind and solar.

    • Key to the SNL mockery of Republican presidents has been the actors, who had to be younger looking than the actual politicians. Nobody on SNL is young looking enough to look younger than Ryan. They might try to bring him on as a guest spot and revive the “we’re here to pump you up” skit though.

  1. I hope they do get us some energy. It cost me over $130 to fill my truck yesterday. And I bought fence posts and they were $4.56 for 6′ Tposts. For many, many years, you could get fence posts for less than $2 each.

    The runup in energy is driving the price of everything higher, which is draining all the disposable income from our economy, even for those of us who still managed to keep a job.

    • Everybody understands this except Fred Upton and John Boehner. Upton refuses to exercise any oversight functions, preferring a ‘let’s wait and see how the courts rule on all of this’ approach, while Boehner made a solemn oath to keep all government agencies well-funded so that they can continue to promulgate rules protecting that mysterious entity known as ….the environment.

      • Boehner should have been “primaried” long ago. Don’t expect any such develpment from Status Quo D.C. Republicans or the quisling Ohio Republican Party or a new Romney Administration. Oddly, it is more probable that he could be booted out during a Second BIG BRObama term, when he will undoubtedly keep on failing to oppose the burgeoning agenda of Leftism.

  2. You’d think they might throw Palin a bone by acknowledging that she brought national attention to the phrase if for no other reason than to try and bring her supporters into the fold a little more. Yes, I know – the campaign managers are smarter than I am.

  3. Just got a google alert, looks like Obama is going to raid SPR, citing Isaac. All rigs in GOM have been evacuated and shut down. Good plan, Obama. For you. Only allow drilling there and ban it everywhere else.
