Disobedience – Civil, Religious, and Righteous

People get ready, there’s a train a comin’
You don’t need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin’
Don’t need no ticket, you just thank the Lord*

There’s something blowing in the wind these days. We can’t quite put a name on it, but we have noticed an awful lot of people just saying “No” to Big Government and Progressive Statist dictates. Getting a lot of attention initially was the Catholic Bishops telling the Obama Administration their private and charitable institutions would not be complying with the mandate that contraceptive drugs and devices be included in the insurance employers and institutions provide those covered in their plans.
Next, a broad array of State Governors announced that their states would not be complying with Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates regarding medicaid coverage. This, after the traitorous ruling by Chief Justice Roberts and Friends on the Supreme Court in NFIB v. Sebelius greenlighted Obamacare.

People get ready for the train to Jordan
It’s picking up passengers from coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board ’em
There’s hope for all among those loved the most.*

Indeed, people do seem to be getting on board with the idea that religious liberty, freedom of conscience, free will and freedom from the whims of a remote, centralized federal government, and the wrath of those power-hungry individuals and institutions slavishly devoted to it, is more important than loyalty to demagogues, obeying the Ruling Class and licking the boots of the Entitlement Vendors. A group of business types in Pennsylvania vented their spleens against the Deciders of both major parties who sustain and perpetuate themselves at the expense of Main Street.

The purveyor of chicken sandwiches was overwhelmed when tens of thousands came out to tell big city mayors and the evolving blasphemist at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue that certain things are best left undisturbed, and chief among them is Americans’ right to belief and opinion.  Perhaps one of the most significant developments was the public announcement by a prestigious African American pastor that he and more than 3,000 of his colleagues in the clergy have had it with the abandonment of traditional, moral, family values by the occupant of the Oval Office. It was a blistering indictment of Obama.

There ain’t no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there’s no hiding place against the Kingdom’s throne*

And then the people of Texas rose, almost as one, and said to the Establishment “We owe our allegiance to the Constitution, and to the Sovereignty of our State and that of the several States, and not to Party elites.”   They gave a man named Cruz a mind-boggling twelve (possibly 14) point victory in the primary contest for Senator over the establishment candidate.  There are upsets in everything from time to time, but a victory like that is a thing to marvel.
There are other things going on across the land indicating the people are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. Like the push for local communities to wrest their schools back from Big Education. Like State Legislatures standing up to the public sector unions and saying “You are not going to continue to bleed the public and bankrupt our cities and states.”

You can feel it, a low rumble in the distance, like a train coming around a faraway bend. You can almost hear it gaining in volume and insistency as it approaches. It just has the feel of a gathering force, something that will not be hindered or controlled.

So people get ready, there’s a train a comin’
You don’t need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin’
Don’t need no ticket, you just thank the Lord*

Love the “evolving blasphemist” – apt description.  I hope and pray you’re right, Bob.  Our passion is burning red hot, and those who stayed home in a fit in 08, better not be thinking that way now.

The Establishment was hopeful that the Tea Party was fading.  Hey, where are the marches and rallies?   Well, the TP and groups like them have gone into the GOP precincts and/or become advocates working for the defeat of establishment politicians.  That’s where the rubber meets the road and that is how we get to a more limited, constitutional government. One of the links in the article above is to the American Spectator write-up about the PA group know as CAP and how they are successfully facing down the alliance of  Labor, trial lawyers and featherbedding legislators.  Should be required reading… Read more »

Great write up, Bob, and great reminder that all the iconic images,  songs and themes of the  civil rights days all belong to the Right. The Left, they done cast them aside,
