24 Hours, 2 Tales: TSA Edition

The juxtaposition of these two stories are so maddening to the average human being that they almost make you want to pull your hair out. The TSA is out of control, it is another government agency that has lost their ability to recognize their own insanity. They have grown so large and the cash infusion so massive and of course the unionization of their “workers” have done to American citizens what a criminal couldn’t do and that is take away every American’s feeling of security. The first story is one of the TSA “workers” as most union “workers” do, they want more, you aren’t giving them enough Money, Money, Money, Give Me More

The man with eight pounds of methamphetamine in his carry-on bag stood in the snaking security line at Los Angeles International Airport’s Terminal 4, inching toward the checkpoint, when a TSA screener approached.

But it wasn’t to stop the contraband, according to prosecutors. It was to make sure it got through.

The screener, John Whitfield, allegedly told the man to get to the back of the line so he and his luggage would get to the X-ray machines when Whitfield’s shift started. That way, he would be the one watching the meth show up on screen; and in exchange for $1,200, Whitfield allowed it through, according to a federal indictment unsealed Wednesday.

Authorities filed trafficking and bribery charges against Whitfield and three other current and former Transportation Security Administration screeners, alleging that they received thousands of dollars in cash bribes in exchange for turning a blind eye on drugs packed in suitcases.

The case represents a “significant breakdown of the screening system,” U.S. Atty Andre Birotte Jr. said in a statement, adding that the accused screeners “placed greed above the nation’s security needs.”

David Herzog, the assistant U.S. attorney prosecuting the case, said the scheme had implications beyond drug trafficking.

“In this case it was narcotics; we want to make sure the next time it’s not other dangerous materials,” he said. Herzog added that all the drugs were seized before they left the airport.

While the drug mules have a friend in the TSA little 7-year old disabled girls and boys do not. The soul sickness of union “workers” across America have created a class of people who demand more and give nothing. When we end the practice of unions being able to be created to work against the taxpayer, then we will get back the America we deserve The TSA Each Day Shows A Level Of Nastiness That Begs For Their Agency Being Denied Any Tax Payer Money

Flying is always difficult for the family, but this week was particularly dreadful, Frank and his wife, Marcy, said.

With her crutches and orthotics, Dina cannot walk through metal detectors and instead is patted down by security agents. The girl, who is also developmentally disabled, is often frightened by the procedure, her father said.

Marcy Frank usually asks the agents to introduce themselves to her daughter, but those on duty on Monday were exceptionally aggressive, Joshua Frank said, and he began to videotape them with his iPhone.

“And the woman started screaming at me and cursing me and threatening me,” he said.

Eventually, a supervisor decided it was sufficient to inspect Dina’s crutches and allowed the family to leave for the gate.

They were there for an hour before the agents reappeared with a manager to tell them that proper protocol had not been followed, and that Dina had to be screened after all, the Franks said. After initially offering to pat her down at the gate, they insisted she return to the security area, Joshua Frank said.

“So then I got aggravated,” he said.

With Dina now in her wheelchair, Frank raced her across the JetBlue terminal, but by then, the family had missed its plane. The Franks caught a subsequent flight.

The TSA did not respond to a request for comment.

“They’re harassing people,” Joshua Frank said. “This is totally misguided policy. Yes, I understand that TSA is in charge of national security and there’s all these threats.”

But, he added, “For her to be singled out, it’s crazy.”

Two tales, one day and each says something about the TSA, they are out of control and I suspect it happened the minute they unionized. Lets take our country back from the heathens of the federal government unionized “workers”. There is no reason and there never has been to unionize employees of the Federal or State or Local governments against those who pay them, We The People!

  1. There is one major airport out west, I can’t think of which one now, that is using private security screeners and it has been a rousing success. No waits, both employees and the passengers are happy.

You just reminded me Jaded, of what I have to look forward to when I fly on Saturday. Out of Detroit. One of the worst ones.
