There are 72,536 pages in the tax code, so I could say there are indeed 72,536 reasons to go to a flat tax or fair tax but after reading the story about our soldiers, I have decided that our military is the number one reason. You see our soldiers are treated like the rest of us, the IRS sends them a letter to their address saying there is an issue, unfortunately they do not stay at one address very long. Our military members should never have to think about their bank accounts being frozen or their credit being destroyed by judgements against them, when they are more then likely in a war zone, not at an address.
It isn’t enough that when asked which government agency puts the most fear in Americans it is the IRS. It is tyranny of the populace by an unelected group of gangsters, yes gangsters. The IRS treats Americans like subjects, they destroy entire lives with the signing of a document by their own “judges” that in one fell swoop ruin you.
Herman Cain spoke of 9 9 9 and Americans were thrilled, Americans are always thrilled when a flat tax is discussed as a possibility and yet, not one candidate has come back to the flat tax present to the American people This Story Alone Is The Reason To Bring Sanity To America’s Tax System And Make The IRS irrelevant In Our Lives
Michael Sullivan of Fresh Start tax services in Florida said he routinely receives e-mails or calls via Internet service Skype from servicemembers who have been hit with unexpected tax problems.
“A lot of times that notice does not catch up to where they are actually living, and the IRS is only obligated to send the notice to the most recent address” on file, Sullivan said. “If the IRS can’t contact you, you’re going to get an enforcement action.”
Tax documents mailed to the wrong address can lead servicemembers to mistakenly file incomplete returns — a red flag for IRS auditors.
If the IRS finds a problem with a return, some troops who have recently moved might miss the notification letter warning them about possible delinquency. Taxpayers who fail to respond to IRS delinquency notifications can miss an opportunity to straighten out the problem before a deadline expires.
One common issue is the combat tax exclusion. The military has designated numerous zones in the world for the benefit, but restrictions and conditions apply, and the amounts of income excluded can differ according to government formulas.
“It can be confusing because it’s hard to know what to include and what not to include” under that exclusion policy, Buchholz said.
The IRS can seize part of a servicemember’s paycheck until the taxes are paid off.
Never again should any American have to pay to have their taxes done, that is just plain wrong, they should be allowed to to know exactly what their tax rate is and have that amount removed from their paycheck. It shouldn’t be a whirlwind of payoffs, paybacks and looting of the treasury to give money back to citizens or payoffs to favored companies. I would like to note that payoffs to favored companies is NOT capitalism.
So lets get down to JadedByPolitics ideal of a fairtax, it should be 15% on those making under 500K, an additional 1% for every 1M above that until you reach the final percentage which to me should be 20% on all income, yes including the income of companies. No hiding your dollars Mr. Buffet, or anyone else for that matter. In America every American and every American company should pay taxes as they all enjoy the benefits of those tax dollars being spent. When all Americans pay taxes then all Americans will pay attention to those politicians who want to raise their taxes for silly and unconstitutional expenditures.
