For the first time in recent memory, Illinois has a slight opportunity to play a role in the presidential primary games, with our vote coming up on March 20th.
In all my travels around my Central Illinois area, I’ve seen hardly any signage for the candidates, perhaps only one or two for Gramps Paul. Other than those, zilch, zero, nada.
Shucks, I’m a PC and since my candidate fell by the wayside, even my yard sports no candidate sign. That will change as we approach the general election, but for now my lawn remains pristine, in keeping with the rest of the neighborhood, county, and actually the tri-county area.
While I remain convinced that a stale ham sandwich can beat Mr Obama, the absolute lack of an inspirational candidacy troubles me greatly. C’mon guys, were going to need more than just a few boring TV ads (with which we’re starting to be bombarded) to gin up some positive enthusiasm! It would be great if someone, even via a PAC-ad, put forth a compelling case to support ANY candidate, instead of merely carpet-bombing an opponent.
And the pundits wonder why voter turnout has been so low this primary season…
