Why Did Richard Dawkins Say “I Can’t Be Sure God Doesn’t Exist”

I suspect because he is a smart man, and not so blind to intellectualism as to think he knows better then the rest of society. What Dawkins has shown by his expressing the “possibility” of a God, is that he truly doesn’t know. I think what the left misses almost exclusively is that a belief in God, or Jesus, or whomever a religion believes in, is that they have faith in their beliefs. You cannot take from a man or woman that which they believe to be true by mocking them or degrading their beliefs. I understand that the militant branch of atheism has true “faith” in their belief that there is no God, and while those of the Christian faith would not deny them their faith, they would fight you tooth and nail to prove their faith is true. It is the same age old conundrum of whose God? Interestingly enough, God is only great when his believers do not worry about defending Him but by living their lives in a way He would expect them to. I commend Mr. Dawkins for being enlightened enough to recognize that faith is not debatable but just “is”:  A Life Lived Without An Awakening Is A Life Denied

He told the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, that he preferred to call himself an agnostic rather than an atheist.

The two men were taking part in a public “dialogue” at Oxford University at the end of a week which has seen bitter debate about the role of religion in public life in Britain.

Last week Baroness Warsi, the Tory party chairman, warned of a tide of “militant secularism” challenging the religious foundations of British society.

The discussion, in Sir Christopher Wren’s Sheldonian Theatre, attracted attention from around the world.

As well as being relayed to two other theatres, it was streamed live on the internet and promoted fierce debate on the Twitter social network.

The angry reaction from the atheists has been most revealing – these screeching atheists are on the same page with the totalitarian Democrats; they can never allow someone else to have freedom of thought, and they think they have the right to tell them what to believe.  I think that all of this comes at a great time in American history because it shows that God, and the peoples’ belief in Him, is greater then any government, state or deity the Democrats pray to, (also known as Barack Hussein Obama).

  1. Strangely enough, as the atheists declare there is no God, they actually worship “false” gods. It is a matter of whose God is greater, hadn’t thought about it that way.

Obama represents idolization and a type of false god and hero worship – poor choice I’d say.

Let’s hope the golden calf is melted down this November. 🙂

    • There was no doubt in my mind watching the 2008 election cycle that Americans had faled the one true God and placed a mere human being that was sold to them by the “mainstream” media as a God as a God about all else, he will fall, because in the end there is only ONE God!
