A Selfish Appeal to Conservative Black Leaders

We don’t think it is a stretch to say we are at a “moment.”  Without rehashing the details of it all here, the social, economic, international affairs, some even say a brooding “constitutional crisis” moment, is what we are talking about.  We are talking about the America we all love being at risk , and we are talking about it from a political angle, because we know, as do you, that politics is a vehicle to “get things done.”

Leaving open the question of whether you can legislate morality, you sure can alter the course of history by taking a stand –  politically, morally and philosophically.  We appeal to you on that basis because each and every one of you are products, and you know it, of a movement started over a half-century ago to eliminate state-sponsored bigotry and discrimination, the now hallowed Civil Rights Movement.  That the movement was in many ways hijacked by what us conservatives call the Statist Left, as well as greedy opportunists,  is relevant to our talk today.  But let there be no doubt about the greatness and rightness of that movement in its core and in its accomplishment.

However, that movement is over.  99%+ of all claims of anyone’s, or any group’s, civil rights being violated today on the basis of race or color, or even gender or faith, are without merit.  You know that.  We have heard you speak and read your writings attesting to that.  Those mouthing “civil rights this” and “civil rights that” these days are not about civil rights, if they ever were. Mostly they are about….getting paid. You know that, too.

No, the issue today, the reason we are calling you to arms in the spirit of the Civil Rights Movement, the movement that took courage and dedication on the part of your brothers and sisters, the elder statesmen, many of whom have  passed on,  and who were mostly black but also many who were white, is that the social condition of huge, vast swaths of the population has deteriorated to a state that amounts to virtual slavery, a modern-day slavery.  It is a great percentage of the black population, but it is a growing percentage of the larger white population as well.

That’s where the ‘selfish appeal’ comes in.  It is selfish to the extent that we white folk, for the most part, as a race and in our historical narrative, have not known slavery in the literal sense.  Drudgery, perhaps, but that’s life.  Persecution at times among certain subsets, but that’s life, too.  But now, many of us are beginning to perceive a condition enveloping us, black and white together, from which there is no respite, no appeal, no alternative.  That is the slavery of  The State.  Some of our fellow citizens, refugees and transplants from Asian and European regions where Fascism and Communism enslaved them for decades are familiar with the condition, but we of the traditional American culture which has existed for a few hundred years now, are not.  And it scares us.  We do not want it.  And thus our selfish appeal, which follows.

We call on you conservative black leaders to start a new movement to pull your brothers and sisters out of the enslaving grasp of the Liberal Democratic political and statist bureaucratic morass that all of us are living under.  Again, you, as conservatives, know what we mean by that.  We ask you to do so now by publicly coming together and forming among yourselves a named coalition, or coalitions, dedicated to the new struggle.  You have all put yourselves out there individually from time to time and many of you have devoted significant portions of your lives and careers to waking up your fellows to the traps and snares of the evils we speak of here today.  Until now, these pitfalls have been mostly social and situational, but now are culminating in a tyranny that we fear will enslave us all.  We ask you now to join together, in the same spirit of unity and purpose and resolve as fifty years ago, with as much influence and humanity as you can bring to bear.

We see this struggle as being a long-term affair, involving decades of effort, just as the Civil Rights movement entailed.  But the immediate fight is to wrest the control of the national government, and as many smaller governments as possible, out from under under the dominion of the Progressive Socialists.  Most immediate of all will be the campaign to unseat Barack Obama and the Democrat-controlled Senate of the United States Congress.  Once more, we do not need to explain why.  You have seen the damage that has been done to freedom since 2008.  But returning to the social and situational aspects for the moment, we ask you to selfishly do this for your brothers and sisters of color because of the breakdown of the family and the community we all have seen, which of course began long before Barack Obama arrived on the scene.   In so doing you will be helping your white brothers and sisters as well, because this social breakdown concerns us every bit as much as the imposition of tyranny by the State.  The white family is disintegrating before our very eyes and just as much due to the “liberal” policies of the panderers and abettors in the Government Solutions Corps as has been the case in the black community.  Immorality, depravity, single-parent/no-parent families feeding off the public trough as a way of life and malicious disrespect for ordered society are colorless vices.

We do not mean to imply that you have some extra responsibility to your own communities, or to society at large, unless it should strike you that you do.  In fact, it is many of you  who have yourselves described for us time after time the sad states of affairs we speak of today.  To our discredit, we largely, while empathetic, viewed it as ‘your’ problem.  Well now, it’s everybody’s problem.  We will not describe specifically what we ask of you, or question any hesitation you may have in moving forward.  But we do think a certain amount of courage will be required. And as we said above, your effort needs to be very, very public, with public names and statements and published goals.  We realize there are smatterings of organizations around the country who delve into these issues, but once more, we are talking about  a movement here.  We are asking you to create a movement to join our movement to save our country, your country, and to rescue the people being ground into nothingness by the slow, inexorable descent into statist dependency, which slowness is speeding up as we speak.

As we said at the outset, politics is a vehicle, as well as a certain constant source of focus in our affairs.  The vehicle we conservatives use is the Republican Party.  Whether that will always be the case or not, it certainly has been for some time.  Some  of you are Republican by party affiliation, but whether or no, we are sure you understand that the chances of taking our country back are decreased exponentially if we look to the ‘other side of the aisle’ to focus our efforts, and not much greater, in the short term, if we start a third national political party.  We have to stop the bleeding with the material available.

So  our motives may be seen as selfish – to elect Republicans.  On the surface, yes, but underneath you have to know, as conservatives, that our discontent with the political process is not limited to what the Democrats do or say.  We are greatly irritated by a lot of what the Republican leadership seems to be about these days, particularly in the fiscal sphere but also in the social.  So whatever unity of purpose we are trying to forge as party faithful is somewhat strained these days.  That is one reason why we are appealing to you stalwarts of the traditional black American conservative stripe to fashion  something to help us both defeat Barack Obama and Company in the short term, and grow and solidify the conservative faction that we think is in reality a popular choice for a large majority of Americans, if only they could see it personified, led and encouraged with bold statements of purpose and belief.  That is what we are asking you to help us with, in whatever creative and utilitarian ways you can.  But it is a sincere plea for help.  Quite frankly,  we want and need the votes and also the spirit and dedication you can bring.  We are asking you to take what you have been doing to the next level.

Go then, and talk among yourselves.  And do what you can in your own way, but do as much as you can.  Please do not reject our appeal out of hand.  It is selfish  in part, but we know our concerns are yours also.  This is for all of us, and for the greater America.

  1. Your post is timely with Jaded’s, Bob. We’ve watched for years the MSM giving so-called leaders of the Black Community the microphone. Those individuals only preached keeping the people enslaved on the Democrat plantation. In the meantime, and you address this, there are conservative Black leaders trying to exhort their people to freedom. It is always refreshing to hear them, but unfortunately, they don’t have the public square like the Rev. Sharpton and Jackson. Slowly, one preacher at a time to turn the tide in their churches; but first they have to tell the people truth about the government’s enslavement.

    • The sad part Penquin is the Ministers who are conservative are kicked out of their church and out of the NAACP as was Reverend Bryant, when he REFUSED to push Planned Parenthood and abortion, he lost his position after 9 years of preaching which is step to the TEA Party, he knew he was no longer a Democrat, that he could no longer ignore the genocide in the black communities, he has paid a high price as a so called sell out, as has Zo and Herman Cain and Lt Col Allen West – Congressman from Florida!

    • Don’t really have any expectations, Tex. But should any ‘conservative black leaders read this piece, I hope that in addition to the words, they will note the pictures. In the good old days, the folks wanted to carry the American flag, were asking just to be able to vote for the candidate or party of their choosing, and to be able to work.
Ah, for the good old days.

      • If you had seen the conservative black leaders at the premiere of RunawaySlave this past week, you would Bob that they are working extremely hard against unbelievable odds, they have lost jobs as Ministers in the NAACP and every other lettered leftist black organization you can think of. They as well have been disrespected and called Uncle Tom’s and sellouts to their race from those same groups. They need us to be with them as much as we need them to work harder 🙂

  2. Hey Bob I got this compliment for you write up

    • Tks, Jaded. No, I don’t tweet, though every once in a while I chirp. Between your piece and mine, we will probably get sued by Holder, or charged with conspiracy to violate Obama’s civil rights. But all we did was maybe start a little conversation. We didn’t start the fire (for freedom), it was always burnin’ since the world’s been turnin’, (I think Billy Joel said that).
