Right up there with prison gangs.
Here is a story by one Elliot Spagat from the San Diego bureau:
“U.S. gangs are a force in Central American prisons”. That is the headline accompanying the piece in the Albany Times Union. Here is the headline in my local paper for the same article: “U.S. Sows New Breed of Violence.”
Both headlines are disgusting lies. This is not just bias, but outright lies. These are not “US gangs” in Honduran prisons, these are Honduran national MS 13 gang members who were deported back to Honduras. The recent fire in a prison down there which killed 350+ prisoners has given the AP an opportunity to lie and propagandize and paint the US as the villain of the piece, and to rail against the US for deportation of illegals, even criminal illegals. (Yes, redundant, I know.)
Here is the lead sentence:
SAN DIEGO (AP) —” The deadliest prison blaze in a century has drawn attention to an unfortunate U.S. export to Central America: street gangs”.
Get that? The US is exporting street gangs to Central America. Not deporting violent criminals but exporting a terrible scourge to Central America – Central Americans!
Here is the second paragraph:
“Prisons in Honduras and elsewhere in Central America are teeming with inmates who belong to gangs that have their roots in Southern California. Refugees of the region’s civil wars sowed a new breed of violence on the streets of Los Angeles in the 1980s.”
These people don’t have their “roots” in Southern California, they have their “roots” in Honduras. That’s why they were sent back there. Oh, but to the AP they were just poor “refugees” from civil wars in Central America. Refugees who sowed a new breed of violence which somehow gets transmogrified into a headline that reads “US sows new breed of violence.” And “US Exports Street Gangs to Central America.”
I get so mad when I read this garbage it makes me want to …….sow a new breed of violence. Instead, I’ll just copy this to Brent Bozell’s people and a few other outlets. I have harangued editorial boards, individual journalists, journalism schools, the AP and the UPI, the ASNE and others over the years about this garbage but it doesn’t do any good. It may be about time to start exporting “journalists” to Central America along with MS 13 gang members. They are both despicable groups. I know people don’t read newspapers like they used to, but this anti-American bile is still peddled, and it makes my blood boil.
