GOP Timidity Is a Path to Defeat

The GOP seems to be either desperate for a win in November and willing to field anyone they perceive rightly or wrongly as being “electable” (whether they’d reverse the spiral we’re in or not) , or eager to lose so the coming crash can be blamed on Democrats. Except, that it won’t be, no matter what, be blamed by the media on Democrats. Ever.

The American people in general, and the Republican rank and file in particular, are fed up, angry, worried, and supremely frustrated. Yet they are being told, once again, that we’d better not nominate anyone who is very conservative, or that person will get clobbered in the press and repel independents. This strategy comes from a purely defensive posture, and as such, it is doomed to failure from an ideological perspective even if it succeeds electorally.

If establishment Republicans, through punditry and analysis echoed throughout the mainstream media, select a candidate who, even if he wins, will not effect the kind of serious change the American people are craving [and the Republic needs to survive – EB], these Republicans will have served only to slow the steady progression of the nation to the left, and to further estrange themselves from the American people. This estrangement could then end up pushing many conservative voters toward a third party, making even a centrist candidate a probable loser against a united left.

The GOP doesn’t seem to realize, if they blow this, we’re seriously screwed. All the perks of politics will mean squat if the economy it trashed to the point of destruction, or our enemies decide our “Peaceful overtures” are a weakness to exploit in order to destroy us. I for one don’t care if it’s BHO, Mittney, or RP that caves to terrorists, if I see my fellow countrymen and women slaughtered because of their timidity and stupidity, I’ll be insanely angry.

  1. Entitled to your opinions EB but the remark about Mitt being soft on terrorists is, ( and on all such defense matters ) if that is the inference is not correct. Mitt Romney is probably the most hawkish of all Republican candidates in the running. .I think the subject of national defense preparedness is a very important subject. As I see it with our national economy wrecked and in such grievous debt, the Chinese are watching & are closer now than ever since 1949 of attaining their #1 Goal – invading Taiwan and taking it back. (Yes, this one is that important to them). Obama couldnt even find the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979 if he wanted, to start dismantling it Panama Canal ZOne-style. You may not like him on any other items EB but rest assured George Romney’s son will shove a carrier battle group into the Straits of Taiwan if the need comes.
