If We Just Keep Our Heads in the Sand, People Will Eventually Start Acting Better

This is Forbes Magazine.  This is not Mother Jones, nor even the Democrat Party Newsletter.  And the author is apparently sufficiently clued in to know that there has been a lot of hanky panky going on in the “global warming” geo-political sphere.  So when just the other day a new batch of e-mails are leaked to the world-wide-web in what is being called Climategate 2.0, Mr. Taylor apparently felt a responsibility to give the public  a taste of them.  Perhaps they are no more shocking than the first batch, which revealed a world-wide conspiracy among “scientists”, educational institutions and Non- Governmental Organizations, including the United Nations, to cover up the scam that is Anthropogenic Global Warming.

But glossed over in Mr. Taylor’s article, which includes the familiar names of Jones and Mann and others conspiring to keep the public from finding out about the scam, is this item:

“Any work we have done in the past is done on the back of the research grants we
get – and has to be well hidden,” Jones writes in another newly released email.
“I’ve discussed this with the main funder (U.S. Dept of Energy) in the past and
they are happy about not releasing the original station data.”

The import of this is that Jones not only damns himself , as he did in the original batch of hacked e-mails, he damns the US Department of Energy, saying they are ‘happy’ about data being withheld from the public. This is not hearsay. Jones states that he has”discussed it with them”. Now, that is not to say he is not embellishing the tale, and it doesn’t name names or specify who “they” are. But the point is we are now beyond private concerns, private scientists on the take for government grants or even public universities. We are now directly talking about a government entity that Jones says is on board with the idea of  hiding data detrimental to the AGW cause.  He has discussed it with them.

Now, it is early days yet since the release of this batch of e-mails, so we must wait a bit to see if Stephen Chu or any other government officials are soon to be called to capitol hill, along with the ‘researchers’  and the other conspirators, to sort this out. But in the meantime, and this is the point of this piece, What does Mr. Taylor say is the way forward in the whole grand scheme of the climate change debate and those purporting to advance the cause? It is thus:

What is already clear, however, is the need for more objective research and ethical conduct by the scientists at the heart of the IPCC and the global warming discussion.

Really, Mr. Taylor?? Really?? All that is needed is a little more objectivity and a little more ethicality and things will be fine? Good God, man, your bona fides say you write about, and apparently know something about, and therefore had to have been paying at least a little bit of attention to the entire AGW debacle and it’s unraveling the past several years. You refer in your own piece to Climategate 1.0. Do you not understand the import even that of which you write about?  You are the “senior fellow for environmental policy at the Heartland Institute’.  That said, are you disinterested? Jones and Mann are corrupt, Mr. Taylor, and they condemn themselves with their e-mails.  They are corrupt. The IPCC is corrupt. Penn State University  is corrupt and the University of Virginia is corrupt and East Anglia University is corrupt and now Phil Jones is confirming that the United States Department of Energy is corrupt and you’re calling for “objectivity”? Unbelievable.  Ethicality?  In your dreams.  After the revolution, maybe.

But reassure yourself of one thing, Mr. Taylor. You are in good company. The Congress of the United States of America, a separate branch of the US government from the Department of Energy, albeit one that is supposed to exercise oversight of DOE, is in agreement with you. No matter how many billions of dollars in federal funding, grants, tax breaks and other incentives have been wasted on the AGW scam, no matter how many hundreds of billions, maybe extending into the trillions, of dollars worth of GDP have been sacrificed on the altar of the environmentalist whacko/Socialism Ho! movement, the people’s representatives fail to see any urgency in putting the quietus to it.

Why, maybe Jones and Mann, and their communist sympathizers and enablers,  will just kind of fade away into the night and everything will be okay in the morning……………..ya think?  You think Stephen Chu has been sufficiently beaten up over the Solyndra affair that he’s ready to become a reformer?  You think maybe Cass Sunstein and John Holdren and the whole crowd are going to heed your advice to be more ethical?

So we guess that as far as the Department of Energy abetting deception, fraud,  misappropriation of funds and other criminal activity, well, Barack won, don’t you  know, so nothing can be done, and heck, if anything were done, it would have to be done to an incoming Republican administration. and maybe the one immediately preceeding,  as well. Might be bad for business. Not that business is any great shakes these days.

So many have given up.  So many have gone on record, by their silence or by their complicity, as agreeing that America is, and maybe just ought to be, no longer an exceptional nation, in fact no longer even a very good nation, as far as manners and morals and legitimacy in its political and governing actions.  See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.  The default position, apparently, is “We don’t care.”  It is beyond shameful what passes for public service these days.  Our representatives are not looking out for us, and all the establishment media and intelligentsia can say is, “Gee, wouldn’t it be nice if people conducted themselves properly?”

I guess I’m saving what outrage I have left for November 2012. It won’t take me long to vote. One click and done.

Maybe we’ll even get lucky enough to have a president who will go into these agencies and fire every liberal/commie, regardless of tenure. What if someone actually sheetcanned the Dept of Energy? We might actually start to develop our own resources.

Spot on! This spirit that corrupts institutions is the legacy of the left that endures the longest, even for generations, which is why countries that escape from despotism find it very difficult to remain free. We take too much for granted our 200+ years of rule under law that we don’t see our birthright being sold in exchange for soup.

The Department of Energy even in its glory days, had precious little to do with real energy policy. As Carter created it, its main job was to use a big crew of northeastern-schooled federal lawyers to enforce the windfall profits tax via lawsuit, threat and fine against taxpayers, many of them small or famly companies, most in the Southwest. It will be a continuing fight, but I predict the Global Warming Religion is going start melting away. Lots of charlatans have made a career of this false religion, to be sure, but Global Warming for some reason just isn’t chic,… Read more »

To be sure, to see Mr Holder modelling the year’s newest creation in Orange Jumpsuits, is something we all want to see. Him and about 50 others in this administration or allied with it (hmm? could put them all on a deck of cards for easy identification). But so far, Holder’s weaselly face, is just on TV every day, in my face. It all depends on the Nov 2012 election. If polls continue as they are, though, look for him and some others in DOJ, to make early departures next year “to pursue other interests”/”spend more time with family” –… Read more »

I astound even myself in the above prediction, that the Liberal rats would start running off the SS Obama, mouthing excuses on their way out such as those mentioned above (i.e., Barney Frank’s announcement today 11/28/2011 that he is leaving). Be it as it may, anything to start prying loose this vile crowd out of D.C.!! Whatever it takes.
