40 Days for Life concluded yesterday. Reports from around the world continue to pour in but initial counts show that 508 mothers chose life for babies they had planned to abort. And these are just the ones we are able to verify. There are many mothers who choose not to abort but never tell the prayer volunteers or sidewalk counselors. Former abortion workers tell us that when people are praying outside of the clinics, the no-show rate is about 50%. That kind of a number makes you realize why the abortion industry pushes for bubble zones, huh?
And while we saw 508 babies saved from abortion, many more didn’t survive. The father of lies had his way far too often the last 40 days. On a personal note, I had the opportunity to speak to several women and men as they entered the abortion facility during the prayer vigil. It was a tough go for me this round. If I may share freely, I spent most of my time outside the clinic in tears. From the boyfriend who looked at me with tears in his own eyes to the women who wanted to hear more of what I had to say but had forceful boyfriends and parents yelling at them to get inside the clinic, it proved too much for my little ole heart this time. We saw too many women choose to end the lives of their pre-born babies. Yet, we remain encouraged and have hope. We lean on scripture that says ” Behold I make all things new again” (Rev 21:5) and “I came so that you may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
I leave you with a slideshow that the executive director of the Austin Coalition for Life, Elizabeth McClung, put together of the Austin 40 Days for Life prayer vigil. I hope you enjoy it.
…and remember, it may be Friday but Sunday’s a comin’!
