Herman Cain Blasts the Media During CSPAN Debate

Texas Patriots PAC put together a debate on CSPAN between Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich that aired Saturday night from the Woodlands, Texas. It was just the two men sitting across from each other discussing policy without a lot of moderator control and plenty of time to give real answers. It’s the best debate format I’ve seen in years and there were no “gotcha” moments. Heck, I actually enjoyed it and I learned something too.

Newt was brilliant all of the time and Mr. Cain was clever and did a great job of keeping up with Newt. It’s just that nobody alive today can match Newt on the policy wonk stuff. I’ll have more to say another day on all the policy ideas that were tossed out.

I want to focus on how Cain answered the last question of the night, posed by Newt Gingrich. When asked what most surprised him about the job of running for president, Cain responded by saying he was most surprised by the “nitpickiness” of the media. Without naming names, Cain added that the many in the media were dishonest (hello, Politico). I ripped the video for you. Watch:

Well done Herman. Busting on the malignant media… After the week you had, I’d say you had it coming to you.

  1. I’ve never enjoyed or even watched an entire “debate” like I did this one. Couldn’t believe it when it was over, would have been glad to watch another hour. They did a good job; genuine and respectful. Not looking to be snarky and mean-spirited toward each other.

    • We had the same reaction at our house, Lady P. “What, is it over already?” It was incredibly refreshing to see two grown-ups having a serious, cordial discussion about real solutions to real problems. I kept flashing back to that juvenile schoolyard scuffle between Romney and Perry in Nevada. The contrast was truly striking.

  2. I wish Cain had said they were dishonest at the first rather than at the last. He started out calling them “nitpicky” which to me means careful, thorough, somewhat obsessed with small things rather than large things, but primarily never allowing any small thing to slide.

That is not at all what we have. They allow HUGE things to slide if the Ds do it.

Remember this one? Nancy Pelosi accuses the CIA of lying to her about waterboarding. We find that *she* is lying and this is revealed at a time where there is a huge national debate going on about it.

The media confronts her with the truth; she says she’s not going to answer any questions about it; that closes the book; they drop it completely. It’s never brought up again. Seriously? WTH?

The President sets up a program where we ship guns to narco-terrorists in Mexico. The program is responsible for providing the arms for hundreds of murders all over Mexico and the deaths of at least two of our own border patrol agents. Radio silence. Seriously? WTH?

This is not being nit picky. This is the actions of people who are deliberately trying to cover up for the lying, dishonest, incompetent, evil politicians in the Democratic party.
