Growing A Pear (sp.)

Principal Anne Foley of the John F. Kennedy public school in Somerville, MA has informed her staff that Thanksgiving is offensive and will not be allowed in her school. Other days that will not be allowed include Halloween, Columbus Day and others. District superintendent, Tony Pierantozzi, issued a statement to Fox News in Boston explaining that what Columbus did to the indigenous people of America is not something to celebrate. The superintendent further explained that celebrating Halloween is the same as teaching  students about witchcraft and other evils. In his Fox News interview, however, he skirts Thanksgiving altogether.

The official position of the Somerville School District is that the fall holidays listed are offensive to some and the goal of the public schools is to insure everyone is welcome and comfortable

Students in a Texas public high school were made to stand up and recite the Mexican national anthem and Mexican pledge of allegiance as part of a Spanish class assignment, but the school district maintains there was nothing wrong with the lesson.

It happened last month in an intermediate Spanish class at Achieve Early College High School in McAllen, Texas — a city located about 10 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Wearing red, white and green, students had to memorize the Mexican anthem and pledge and stand up and recite them in individually in front of the class.

What do the residents of Somerville, Massachusetts  and  McAllen, Texas   have in common?  They suffer from a memory lapse.  They have forgotten what tar…and feathers….and rails….are for.

Poor. No advanced degrees. Unorganized. Feeble. Disjointed. Random. Past it. .... Intrigued, Interested, Patriotic and Lucky.
