Cain Leading in IBOPE Zogby

The newest IBOPE Zogby poll has Herman Cain leading the field of GOP presidential candidates, by a substantial margin.  He is at 28% percent, followed by Perry at 18% and Romney at 17%.

The fine print is what interests me (emphasis mine):

This poll was conducted after Perry’s most recent subpar debate performance last Thursday, but the survey was still in the field when Cain won a Florida straw poll on Sunday. Cain was the top choice of only 8% a month ago.

It will be interesting to see whether the “mainstream media” starts paying a little more attention…

The establishment theologians of the GOP (e.g, Bill Kristol) are having a hard time dealing with this phenomeno, KS. 1) They don’t like the idea that there is a sentiment, pulse, call it what you like, they’ve been unable to get a handle on, and 2) even as they grudgingly have to acknowledge, they don’t like it. The very idea that the people should get to choose who the candidate is in this process. It could ugly. We have to assume they will pout and take their balls and go home if one of “our” people win. So we need… Read more »

One need no further proof of where the MFM is on this than to watch the way Cain’s recent successes have been covered. Both this poll and his stunning victory over Perry and Romney in the Florida straw poll have been virtually ignored and on the few occasions that they have been mentioned, it’s always in the context that this is bad for Perry with nary a word about how it don’t bode real well for the guy who spent millions of his own money last time and has spent the last 5 years begging to be President. Hmmm…wonder who… Read more »
