Rest in Peace

Give me, my God, what you still have;

give me what no one asks for.
I do not ask for wealth, nor success,
nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,
that you cannot have any left.
Give me, my God, what you still have.
Give me what people refuse to accept from you.
I want insecurity and disquietude;
I want turmoil and brawl.

And if you should give them to me,

my God, once and for all,
let me be sure to have them always,
for I will not always
have the courage to ask for them.

When the First Cavalry Regiment, also known as “The First Regiment of Dragoons” salutes their fallen comrades it includes such men as Senator Henry Dodge (First Commander 1833), Colonel Steven Kearney (Liberated California during the Mexican-American War), Governor Richard Barnes (First Territorial Governor of California), General Phillip St. George Cooke (Known as “The Father of the US Cavalry and father-in-law of JEB Stuart), and Jefferson Davis.

You’re in good company young man! To our fallen comrades!

God Bless you, Sgt Sayne, for your service to our great nation. It is because of your ultimate sacrifice that we are allowed to enjoy the freedoms and liberties we do.

May God grant your soul eternal rest, and your loved ones comfort.
