    • Its needed in varying forms but its overrated by most. The real need in the legal area are common sense judges that would throw out frivilous personal injury lawsuits. Some tort reform laws set damage limits too low when what works best, especially in health care/malpractice is to change the evidentiary standard. I would like to research the particular kind of tort reform they have in Texas, but what would gain us all the biggest savings in health ins premium costs would be to end the 50 state monopolies and allow competition across state lines and end the federal mandates for coverage in ObamaCare and those that existed before ObamaCare that cause so much defensive medicine.

  1. Bangs head against wall. Bret Baier just asked Romney “At what income level is someone “rich”? is Bret trying to be Brian Williams or Wolf Blitzer?* *An income level has absolutely no relationship to wealth*!! When will centers and center rights quit acepting the liberal premise ? This is the mark of the culture, and it’son both sides of the aisle.

      • Given how low the 9-9-9 rates are, and given my opposition to the much higher rate and Big Brother pre-bate of the FAIR Tax, I am thrilled that Cain has changed to his 9-9-9 which rates are so low and which purges the tax code of all the subsidies, ends FICA etc…I’m for it.

The fact is that no matter what system we adopt, it will grow onerous over time because of human nature and politicians. We will always have to purge it periodically. There is no panacea until Jesus returns.

  2. One point that has to be made re all the “What will YOU do” questions to the candidates. The same question has to be made to each one of us individually: what will each one of us do to make sure we elect Constitutional conservatives to office at the local, county, state and federal levels?

    • As long as we have to raise revenue internally, there will be an IRS, and people and politicians being what they are, we will always need to purge it of exceptions periodically. There is no panacea. Just look at states with sales taxes for any that think a FAIR tax would prevent same.

  3. Another point about this “debate.” It’s not a debate. I don’t know what it is, but it isn’t a debate. A much better format would be one whereby each candidate would have the right to ask a question of one of his adversaries, with a right to rebut the answer. Then the next candidate gets to do the same, and so on. There’d be a timekeeper/referee and no “moderators.”

I predict if Palin gets into the race, she’ll challenge the others to one-on-one debates to be broadcast live over the internet and on any network willing to carry them (all would fight for an exclusive contract to carry them). And the other candidates would ignore her at their peril. Will be interesting to see if she gets into the race. How this “debate” turns out will no doubt factor into her decision making process.

  4. Here comes one of the defining moments between those who want government to run stuff and who wants to empower people: Romney = social security and Romneycare; Perry = let’s follow the Constitution and get rid of Obamacare which is federal Romneycare.

Perry got the best of Romney just now, in my humble opinion.

    • Its usually, as here, a waste of time to try and boil matters down to one-word labels. What Obama and the Dems have wrought is bad and everyone knows it. Its bad because of what it has produced and that we live with, not merely because of why they do it and what it would evolve into. Hence, no need for a scary label whose main purpose is to warn of what is to follow on a slippery slope. With Obama and liberals, the slope done slipped, so why get into a gotcha question re Ponzis or Marxists etc? None.

  5. As this is a Republican candidate debate, and as only about 65% of registered Republicans voted in the 2008 general election and only about 50% in the 2010 general election, and even lower percentages in some of the special elections since Obama was elected, I submitted a video question on the subject of what these candidates are doing to urge the Republican and other voters to do more in terms of getting involved in party politics and Get Out The Vote efforts where they live. Here’s the link in case you are interested:

Methinks the folks at Fox & Google won’t be submitting it to the candidates. Darn!

    • So 40% of polls wanted the Dept. of Education to be destroyed? Good. I’d like to hear the candidates discuss the idea of repealing all rule-making abilities by federal departments and agencies. This is nothing other than the delegation of legislation by the Congress to unelected bureaucrats.

    • Perry apes the Left: Those that oppose Texas law on immigration issues are racists (remember the “We don’t care what their last name is” bull s**t from previous debates) that don’t have a heart. He’s losing me. I now lean to Cain … again, since he admitted his “No mosques in Murfreesboro) mistake and has replaced the Big Government pre-bate un-FAIR Tax with the much better due to VERY low rates 9-9-9 Plan.

“Only Pakistan can save Pakistan, only Afghanistan can save Afghanistan.” Americans didn’t save America all by themselves in 1783. It took the French a while to get here but when they came they came to fight.

  7. Imagine that, the sick liberal whiner is from Madison, WI.

I find myself wishing they’d have let RP answer him. How about “I’m sorry you’re sick kid, but how is that the responsibility of every other American in the Country? Your parents are welcome to pay for your insurance if they want to, I won’t and neither will the American’s I represent.”

  8. It’s forced on me. I assume it was forced on practically everybody. If not let us choose to opt out even now. I call having the IRS threaten my life, liberty and livelihood “being forced upon me.”
Romney is one guy I will not vote for. He is Obama lite/right and if I must have a statist president it won’t be one of my choosing.

      • We won’t help our chances (which are great) by trashing 70 years of Social Security as a “failure”. It is failing of late since we stopped having babies, benefits were expanded too greatly, and it was raided to be intermingled with general revenues. But to call the whole program for all of its 70 years a “failure” is to demean the term failure.

      • Has anybody ever volunteered? I don’t recall ever hearing anybody say, “please take my money and then after wasting much it bludgeon me with political sticks to let me have the dregs later.”
Sure everybody who gets a check likes it. By Romney’s measure welfare and unemployment are massive successes because everybody who gets a check likes it.

Fearmongering basta!@d. What makes him different from Obama? Or Castro? Or any other statist socialist loser. Scare the hell out of them and they will vote for you.

  9. I see tonight this way, Herman Cain won, Newt Gingrich was 2 and really Santorum was third, the two front runners abused each other and themselves with their prior voting records and Mitt Romney did all of that shit in his State in JUST four years, I shudder to think what he would do to the Country in that short amount of time!
