The American People: Sweat Shop Operators

It must be so, right? Unions are necessary against powerful and oppressive employers who work their serfs for long hours in the hot, hot sun with no water and no rest in order to whittle the last shekel of profit out of them, right?

Unions are most popular and successful amongst public employees. Fewer than 7% of employees working in the private sector are unionized, but over 36% of public employees are unionized, so we must be running some pretty hazardous and unpleasant workplaces right?

You despot. You bully. You slavedriver.

Here are some more shocking statistics (shamelessly stolen from the Labor Union Report with some slight editorial editorializing by the royal us.) that make you wonder what in the world our Dept of Labor and National Labor Relations Board is doing, besides destroying private business and playing tiddlywinks under the table:

Total union officers and staff members: 173,503 people
Total compensation paid to union officials and officers: $1,141,540,980 (Seriously?!?)
Total compensation paid to union employees: $2,562,757,481 (The ratio between payment to the grunts and payments to the officers does not look that great to us.)

Unfair Labor Practices filed against unions in the last 10 years: 65,529
Duty of Fair Representation 32,235
Hiring Halls 2,236
Actions of Picketers 1,742 (Thugs.)
Coercive Statements 1,376 (Thugs II.)

Annual Dues Paid to Unions: $8,217,838,676
Total Union Assets: $8,804,794,935 (Tax the rich?)
Total Spending
Representational Activities: $4,081,097,858
Political Activities: $579,624,489 (yeah, that’s just for the members)
Unions that fail to pass Department of Labor audits: 92% (WTH?)

I guess it should come as no surprise that our Community Organizing Chicago Thug of a President has chosen this particular bunch to fraternize with, but the rest of our politicians need to have their tails twisted for allowing this to go on.

They are supposed to represent us and instead they are opening the keys to the public treasury to a bunch of dishonest thugs. Throw the bums out.

I was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and I grew up in a house on Saginaw Bay. My daddy was a poor, hardworking Saginaw fisherman. Too many times he came home with too little pay.

Naw, not really, but it sounds more interesting than the real bio, so there you are.

We may be sweat shop operators today but our children and grandchildren will be the slaves in the sweatshop tomorrow!
