And just when the Obama White House thought things couldn’t get any worse.
In the past week, the Obama Administration has seen the GOP leadership call their bluff on yet another government stimulus package paid for by those who have so that those who need it so much can have yet another government handout; they lost a Congressional District they’ve controlled since the Great Depression; The Won’s approval rating in the People’s Republic of California is now under 50%; and a former mayor of New York, a rather influential Democrat by the name of Ed Koch endorsed the Republican Congressional candidate in order to send a message to Barack Obama about the unacceptability of his policy toward Israel.
And if there weren’t already headaches aplenty at the White House this morning, this story took care of all those folks who didn’t already have one. Now, for those who follow news in the conservative realm even tangentially, the Solyndra story is well known. It’s the walking poster child for Obama’s crony capitalism and his phony Green Jobs initiatives. So it falls into the ‘knock me over with a feather’ category to find out that emails have surfaced that show that beyond the crony capitalism gig, the White House pressured the Office of Management and Budget to speed up their review of federal loans to the now defunct company for the crass, craven political purposes of being able to have a photo opportunity.
So why the Excedrin headaches at the White House this morning? Because this story wasn’t on Breitbart. It wasn’t on Fox. It wasn’t on Istapundit or Hot Air. It was listed under “Top Stories” in the Washington Post.
This is the type of ‘hit piece’ that papers such as the WaPo usually reserve for dastardly and evil politicians like George Bush, Dick Cheney or Sarah Palin.
The only reason the Barack Obama won the ’08 election was because the MSM utterly and purposefully refused to vet him in a manner heretofore never seen in the annals of U.S. politics. And the only reason that his already woeful approval ratings aren’t abysmally in the low 30’s is because the MSM has throughout his Presidency spiked stories of profligacy, crony capitalism and extravagant and excessive vacations.
The fact that allies such as the Washington Post are promoting the types of stories that they usually reserve for conservative Republicans can’t come as welcome news to a White House that is wondering where all the love has gone.
If I were the Democrats, I’d be worried…very worried.
