The Martyrdom of Saint Obama

Now you have to hand it to the left. They are a quick study in the story-telling business. Late this week some of the faithful, notably the peripatetic Tommy Christopher, were pushing the meme of the disrespected president, fresh from another round of vacation, being denied the opportunity (via a delay of one day) to tell the nation how hard he intends to work at reviving the economy, having failed miserably at it for nearly three years.

The fates are not being kind to them, either. On Friday the government released figures indicating that there was ZERO (ah, the irony) job creation in the economy this past month, Now when you can’t create jobs by clocking a trillion or so on the national debt meter every year, clearly one is facing a crisis of faith,

It’s not easy to be a liberal. Fellow compassionate conservatives, you must admit that. It requires one to strive mightily against the dictates of common sense and the evidence that the empirical world presents to us. Thus, the left has an incredible work ethic, although the labors are made easier by their compulsive joy when they poke their micromanaging noses into every nook and cranny of daily life. But even this adrenaline high can’t completely overcome the constant pounding of reality at their doorsteps. Thus, be prepared for a lot of hysterical and irrational behavior.

Actually, Tommy Christopher and his holy cards are not the worst of it. At least he has a sense of humor and is an engaging writer. The real problem is going to come from the hard and desperate progressive activists, who left humor in the rear view mirror a long time ago. As the campaign season kicks off this weekend, be prepared for a stepped up campaign of accusation and defamation by the left, accusing their opponents of racism, insensitivity, disdain for the poor, greed, being in bed with the banks (that’s a good one), yada, yada, yada.

Well, as the saying goes, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me”. So carry on. But be on the alert for sticks and stones.

  1. Even a conservative such as myself, cannot understand why ***trillions***of dollars thrown into a classic Keynesian injection, utterly failed with no effect at all. Usually it at least gives a kick to the economy for a quarter or so, and we are left to argue with the Libs whether the benefit was permanent (structural) or temporary (multiplier effect minimal). But in this case all this money spent and no effect. IOW, where did all the money go? I am afraid the only logical conclusion I can reach is, it’s like a $1mm gov’t highway project under a corrupt Dem governor in the 1930s – a crappy road with potholes got built for $500,000 on low bid, and where the other $500K went no one knows but the Governor and all his close cronies are driving shiny new Buicks.

  2. Tangentially… Please don’t call me a compassionate conservative. I may be compassionate, but don’t agree with the idea that it is the government’s job to do the hard work of acting based on my compassionate heart so that I don’t have to. That leads to the conclusion that we don’t need to be compassionate anymore, as the government will do it for us.

And that’s a little too close to progressive schemes for me to buy it.

On point… Before I let my inner compassion out in the matter of Tommy Xtopher I’d like to reap all the amusement I can out of his repeatedly wronged and outraged actions, as every politician he believes in continues to stab him in the back. He keeps on blaming everything except those mendacious politicians and bankrupt philosophies for his suffering.

When he opens his eyes, then he gets my compassion. But not until then. Too dangerous for now.

  3. Oh my what’s a Lib to do?
1.Race card is getting worn out. To the point of bor-r-ring.
2.GW is not on the ballot in Nov 2012 (heh most of ’em havent figured this one out yet)
3.The Repubs have the House so -0- can’t get fast cash to payoff SEIU and the Unions.
What else can go wrong between now and then?
    4. $5/gal gasoline due to -0-‘s chickens finally coming home to roost on energy policy.
    5. The coming, Long Hot Summer of 2012 which many now anticipate due to 27% effective unemployment of adult males in the urban black community.
Hey Barbra (Streisand), got any extra Air France tickets to the Continent?

  4. It really is madness isn’t it? And for those caught up in it, it had a delusional appearance of real policy in action– at least until the spending money ran out and the utter fail results have become clear.

  5. Obama’s worshipers cannot understand that he is not god, though he has tried to play one. Let him sacrifice himself on his own altar with the high priest, at least it would save the nation…unless it is too late.

He planned to implement policies on the American people that would cause maximum damage to this country’s American Exceptionalism. Remember, that has been his and his puppetmasters’ goal all along. IMHO.

  6. Yes Lady Penguin, sadly, you are right, do you remember what we all felt like two years ago, when, after 6 months of seeing -0- and Rahm in action, we were all kind of in shock & asking ourselves, “can this be real, is he really this bad, this intentionally destroying or going after American institutions left and right?” Now it’s beyond dispute we have learned and coldly accept it he really is that bad–our eyes weren’t deceiving us. **We had just never seen a President this bad in our lifetimes.**
