Now you have to hand it to the left. They are a quick study in the story-telling business. Late this week some of the faithful, notably the peripatetic Tommy Christopher, were pushing the meme of the disrespected president, fresh from another round of vacation, being denied the opportunity (via a delay of one day) to tell the nation how hard he intends to work at reviving the economy, having failed miserably at it for nearly three years.
The fates are not being kind to them, either. On Friday the government released figures indicating that there was ZERO (ah, the irony) job creation in the economy this past month, Now when you can’t create jobs by clocking a trillion or so on the national debt meter every year, clearly one is facing a crisis of faith,
It’s not easy to be a liberal. Fellow compassionate conservatives, you must admit that. It requires one to strive mightily against the dictates of common sense and the evidence that the empirical world presents to us. Thus, the left has an incredible work ethic, although the labors are made easier by their compulsive joy when they poke their micromanaging noses into every nook and cranny of daily life. But even this adrenaline high can’t completely overcome the constant pounding of reality at their doorsteps. Thus, be prepared for a lot of hysterical and irrational behavior.
Actually, Tommy Christopher and his holy cards are not the worst of it. At least he has a sense of humor and is an engaging writer. The real problem is going to come from the hard and desperate progressive activists, who left humor in the rear view mirror a long time ago. As the campaign season kicks off this weekend, be prepared for a stepped up campaign of accusation and defamation by the left, accusing their opponents of racism, insensitivity, disdain for the poor, greed, being in bed with the banks (that’s a good one), yada, yada, yada.
Well, as the saying goes, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me”. So carry on. But be on the alert for sticks and stones.
