Obama: True Believer or Useful Idiot?

An interesting article at The American Thinker got me to pondering that question. From The Secret of Socialism

I commend to you Solzhenitsyn’s “Lenin In Zurich“, a book I read years ago. It is fiction, yet invaluable to the understanding of the last century, and the next. I am about to share with you a secret known to few: Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Deng, Pol Pot, Castro, and Solzhenitsyn himself. And me. And now you.

Socialism does not exist except in the imagination of the true believer and the useful idiot. None of the names I listed believed there was such a thing as socialism. They knew it for what it was: a means of fooling mass numbers of people into following them, and thus achieving power. Political power. Military power. Economic power. Absolute power.

As you read Lenin in Zurich you understand that Lenin doesn’t believe a word of the ideological nonsense he spouts. He translates his agenda, long term and immediate, into terms that are palatable to his mass following.

So, who are the True Believers, who are the Useful Idiots and who is in on the real secret? Nancy Pelosi who used her position as Speaker to fly for free on USAF Aircraft back and forth to her lair? Harry Reid who has never had a real job and couldn’t last thru lunch on the deep fryer at McDonalds? Joe “You’re a terrorist” Biden who inherited his Senate seat and, unlike Harry Reid, couldn’t get past the interview at Mickie D’s? Debbie Two Names who… Well, her shortcomings as a quasi-intelligent life form are obvious. Chuckie Schumer? Or the proud Socialist in the Senate, Bernie Sanders; or the entire Black Caucus who are so in “<3” with Cuba and Fidel’s utopian paradise?

The only place I disagree with Mr. Tarlowe, the author, is here…

So, what can we say about the United States today? Our leader, and those who are his helpmates, do appear to be committed socialists. That means they haven’t looked behind the curtain. They don’t know the magician’s trick.

Who is our Lenin? Who is our Stalin? Who is our Mao? This would have to be someone who knows socialism is meaningful only to his willing fools. Someone who will capitalize when a socialist government in America is complete. My money is on George Soros, but I could be mistaken. Whoever it is, when he has achieved power, we had all better watch out.

They know the final goal, Obama is enjoying the partial gain of that goal right now with his 40 odd days of vacation each year and countless golf games, just as Nancy did with her personal United States Air Force Aircraft. I guess my title should have been “Democrat Voters; True Believers or Useful Idiots?” Unlike our VP, I’d like to hold the name calling to those responsible and not spread it to my neighbors, even if they have fallen into an attractive trap.

  1. Democratic voters are definitely the useful idiots. Soros is the buyer and Obama is just hoping to milk the cow and live in the umbrella of the powerful for the rest of his life.

What makes it so appallingly apparent is things like this week. He has spent the last two weeks preaching to us about balance and shared sacrifice, and then he jets off to Chicago for a $35,000 per seat fundraising breakfast. I can guarantee you they aren’t passing the plate for shared sacrifice there, unless you are talking about sacrificing to give him enough money to stay in his trundle seat.

  2. The part you disagree with is what I disagree with, too.

I don’t believe any of the purported leaders are believers (including Sanders), though Obama is likely not the “kingpin” of the whole charade. Otherwise, how is their net worth increasing, with all the attendant perks thereof, if they actually believe the stuff they hand down to everybody else? And they flaunt it so without the least bit of shame.

They think we are the useful idiots. Apparently in 2008 52% of us were.

  3. I define Obama as a true believer and a pawn for the Left. The useful idiots are the regular folks who haven’t a clue of where these guys are taking this country. These moves are intentional, and Soros backed. IMO.

  4. Don’t have to do a lot of guessing when you listen to the undercover FBI agent who infiltrated the weather underground who stated that Bill Ayers and all his buddies estimated that something like 20 million Americans would have to be eliminated if they didn’t want to convert to their way of thinking.
You can’t tell me that Obama knows Bill Ayers personally and isn’t in on the secret.

  5. I just picked up a book titled “The True Believer – Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements” by Eric Hoffer. While this waits on the pile of reading material, me thinks it may offer some insight into how these useful idiots think.

From what I’ve seen it defies anything that fits into my framework of reality.

One of the code words here is “sacrifice”. Their definition is different than what most would intend. Every time I hear that word from a lib I think of a pagan ritual. Which is usually how it turned out for the innocent victim.

      • Where I live good used book stores are in short supply. I found this title at the internet book store the lib’s love to hit with taxes. The one named after a So. American river… Brand new + shipping under $10 I believe. If this title holds the promise of a good read I may investigate some of his other titles too.

And since I forgot my manners initially; great post nessa!

        • LOL, there’s a great one in Fayetteville, always something unforeseen lying on a shelf screaming my name. That’s the problem though, when a couple hundred books who all want to come home with me start screaming my name my wallet and the other customers get aggravated. It might be worth the risk to go and see what I can find. It’s been almost three weeks since I was there, maybe I can wear a disguise…

          • I have a similar affliction. Something always follows me home. Luckily, I don’t have to ask for permission to keep it anymore!

The only down side is finding a place to put them after reading them. You don’t realize how many books you have until you have to move them!

  6. I hope Obama isn’t a “true believer”…. it’s usually the true believers that happily murder their neighbors in the name of making society “more fair”. Think Pol Pot chopping of the heads of dissenters and piling them into mounds in his killing fields. It’s the true believers that will gladly load their neighbors and even family into cattle cars to be sent off for “reeducation” knowing that they never return. It’s the true believers that will destroy the country while futilely trying to implement their vision of Utopia, never understanding why their policies don’t work. All the while their frustration builds at the “others” who must be to blame for the failure. When their frustration builds high enough the massacres begin.

No I hope Obama isn’t a true believer but only a petty power hungry dictator. Petty dictators are far less bloody and much easier to remove.

    • Brian, I think at this point it’s a toss-up; I’m leaning towards useful idiot because he’s really not all that sharp in the gray matter department. If he were anywhere near as smart as his minions and the Fawning Fourth Estate would have us think, we’d be in some real trouble.
