Family farms at risk: DOT considering requiring CDLs for farm equipment

H/t Kenny Solomon.

The family farm may be in grave peril if the minions of the Department of Transportation and ICLEI have their way.

There is a proposal out there which could require mandatory CDLs (commercial drivers licenses) to operate farm equipment. Although just in the “public comment” arena at this point we all know how the Obama administration operates: grab every part of industry and the American way of life it possibly can and control it. Even family farming.

This socialist tenet is part of Agenda 21, a U.N. power grab, which President George H.W. Bush agreed to in 1991 and President Bill Clinton signed in 1995. It debunks our usual idea that private property, and farms, belongs to the owner. At risk are family farms, privately owned property, single family homes and car ownership.

According to The Blaze, the U.N. concretely puts its purpose into words:

Land… cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes. The provision of decent dwellings and healthy conditions for the people can only be achieved if land is used in the interest of society as a whole.

And guess who we have as a major donor: you guessed it, none other than George Soros. More than $500,000 to ICLEI’s Agenda 21 (page 26).

Farmers in Waco Texas speak out:

Not only would farmers incur costs to train for a CDL, but many farmers rely on family members under the minimum age to operate their farm equipment. As one nervous farmer states:

What am I supposed to do? Wait 10 years until my son reaches 21 so he can assist me on the farm? And then what …drive the tractor to the license bureau in order to take a driver’s test?

Not only is there the training, licensing and testing required but also the need to fill out copious records and diaries.

More comments from the American Farm Bureau Federation:

Farmers would have to lay out the money for the commercial driver’s license and if you have employees for whom English may not be their first language, that could be problematic. Also because other industries need CDLs you could have a situation where farmers and ranchers pay to help their employees get those licenses but then at the end of the day the employee takes it elsewhere. You have that added problem of young people not being able to participate in their family farm because they won’t be able to drive a tractor because they don’t have a commercial driver’s license because they aren’t 18 yet.

This smells of Cass Sunstein my friends.

  1. Here’s an idea – Let’s reach across the aisle and compromise and in a bipartisan manner strike a deal whereby we save the planet as Nancy Pelosi suggests by giving Ray Lahood and Lisa Jackson and Kathleen Sebelius all the money they need for the next year and a half to establish contacts with their good friends in the environmental and Socialists movements for the elimination of property rights. Yeah, let’s shut up and behave like adults and work within the political framework that the New Left has worked so hard to set up over the last forty years. Yeah, let’s do that.

  2. That’s crazy pants. I learned to drive on a tractor. It actually made it much easier to drive a car, when I already understood gear shifting, turning radius, clutching, etc. All I had to learn to move to the road was traffic and rules.

These people won’t be happy until they control every bit of human life. They don’t really care about safe driving on the farm, they want land concentrated in the hands of big corporate farmers because they can control corps, they can’t control the rest of us.

    • This has caused quite a stir on twit. Farmers saying they don’t care, they won’t get a license and will still let their kids drive tractors.

Of course we have the usual lib side of this, one tweep said “farmers should learn they are a form of federal welfare.” When I asked him if he thought *liberal* farmers should then be exempt, this was his response:

“Not at all. When I ride my motorcycle thru Iowa last month and saw things about getting the government off their backs, I had to laugh– 90% of those farms would disappear without government guarantees and welfare (by another name).”

They have an answer for everything. Tell them the sun rises in the east and they will disagree with you.
