In Part 3 of his series on “Why barack obama Is Not My President”, E Pluribus Unum, one of our Distinguished Fellows, offers this example of something that a President does not do:
A President of the United States does not hold a gun to the heads of senior citizens in order to attempt to advance a political point
That’s just one. He has a whole catalog of them. But that was a reference to a direct threat. Obama had previously stated he could not guarantee his administration would send out Social Security checks August 2 if the Congress did not extend the debt ceiling and increase taxes. The list of things that just aren’t done if you are the President of the United States of America, but which Barack H. Obama does anyway, is apparently endless. If you haven’t availed yourself of this series, please do.
The haughty disdain for law, history, precedent and decency by this man who calls himself Obama is often stunning, and sometimes we just have to throw our two cents worth in when something this stark hits us in the face. EPU would call it passing the ammunition. In a speech to the National Council of LaRaza, a Latino- Mexican-centric organization, on the subject of immigration, but not just immigration, Obama offered this:
“Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you not just on immigration reform. But that’s not how our system works,”
If that comment by B. Hussein Obama is not all over the print and broadcast media and all over the ethernet by this time tomorrow, the situation we discuss here on an almost daily basis, the primal urge by resident obama to savage the Constitution of the United States, will have been advanced……by the silence of the lambs. No one, apparently, in any position of responsibility, authority or respect, on any side of the aisle, sees fit to fire a shot across this man’s bow. He admits, in public, a strong desire, a “temptation” as he calls it, to take the law into his own hands. To secure by fiat those outcomes that cannot be obtained by a consensus of the people or their representatives. He has an urge to rule and he has an urge to rule as a dictator. Our own Lady Penguin and our own Vassar Bushmills have dialogued on the man’s psychological state and his propensity to see things as either turning out his way or else turning out his way. And today, in pandering to LaRaza, he confirmed everything that has been written about him on these pages.
We cannot conceive of a President of the United States so antagonistic, so chafing at the thought of the rule of law and not by men, and government of, by and for the people. But we don’t have to conceive of it – the man tells us at every opportunity what he thinks about our legal system. We would have said ‘oblivious’, but he is not oblivious. He issued the caveat that “that’s not how our system works.”(dammit!) Yes, he taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall.
Perhaps, he was being paternally condescending to the Latino culture he was addressing, knowing that in Latin climes, there are often the torrid love affairs with dictators. He perhaps was saying “You want me to do this for you, don’t you? You want the beneficent Obama to grant your wishes.” And we suppose there is the odd possibility that if enough of the romantic influence creeps on in, the calls for El Presidente Obama to rule as a god may move him to tears …..or to action. Not likely, but the fact that this man would make such utterances in a public forum in the United States of America is odious beyond imagination. We can think of no other instance where an American President has candidly and publicly expressed an open desire to impose his will on the American people. And as we said, and as he said, not just on immigration matters – “Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting .”
How much clearer can the man be? He is tempted. Tempted to abandon his oath to faithfully execute the laws for the autocratic pleasure of faithfully doing things his way. Well, here is his problem. When he was elected, in fact before he was elected, he told supporters “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming America.” And he proceeded to give it his best shot. He established an office never before heard of in American political history – the Office of the President-Elect, complete with its own Seal.
Might we say that B. Hussein Obama was “tempted” and gave in to temptation, to create an “office” for himself before he even took the oath. Transition teams are one thing, but this should have been a big, big red warning light.
Anyway, his mesmerized, or in some cases, stupefied, subjects were powerless before his proclamations, declarations and ultimatums to Congress, and to the States, for a while. But along the way, a couple of funny things happened.
Do you know why these things happened? Well, E Pluribus Unum will fill you in on the details, but the short version is that both the Lectern and the Limo realized something early on, something that the rest of the country is slowly coming to grips with and which might, hopefully, from here on out, hold Obama’s temptations in check. If, and it’s a big if, the ‘true confessions’ by Obama about his ‘temptations’ are amplified and replayed for the benefit of the chronically tone-deaf cognizant “leadership” in Washington, and if they find it prudent to heed the alarms being sounded, the country may limp along but survive with Constitution intact until a change of government come January 2013. Here’s hoping.
