MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer, you may remember just yesterday said the attack on Rupert Murdoch at a hearing encapsulated what the British were feeling.
Today, Contessa “educated” a conservative Representative that without the bailout, the country would be in “a depression.” Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said he disagreed which prompted the MSNBC host to ask him if he had a degree in economics.
“Yes ma’am, I do. Highest honors,” Rep. Brooks responded.
According to his Congressional page: “Mo graduated from Duke University in three years with a double major in political science and economics, with highest honors in economics. In 1978, he graduated from the University of Alabama Law School.”
I don’t know how to post videos, but go here and watch this deer-in-the-headlights moment. What age group is it that MSNBC is catering to? This is just one example of the clueless Progressive Pop Culture, and that’s what they are, a “culture”, making idiots of themselves. I don’t watch MSNBC, but apparently there was another conservative tour-de-force yesterday by a congressman on the increasingly lunatic Chris Matthews. I hope there is a method behind these appearances on MSNBC, as in consumer education, because talking to one of these airheads has got to be like talking to……Britney Spears…… Joy Behar …..Ezra Klein……no, wait…Ezra K. IS on MSNBC…when he’s not on Da Post, or that hip, cool thing JournOlistas in Paradise.
Okay, Mo Brooks can take care of himself. While the Contessa quip and Mo’s deadpan comeback are delicious, the first line of the RCP piece caught my eye because this “Get Rupert” theme, if you’ll notice, is starting to creep into a lot of the programming and a lot of the print commentary. I do not think for one moment that the JournOlist is a …..’dead letter’. I think it has just morphed and metasticized like ACORN, Organizing for Obama/America/obama, and others, with Center for American Progress Senior Fellows lurking around every corner and on all the right boards.
You remember a few days back the White House, having rested some of it’s troops and brought in fresh ones, was caught in a new attack on Fox News. While the News Corp scandal in Britain is theoretically a British affair, we now have indications that the Obama administration may be just oh-so-accommodating should anyone want to bring up the subject in a sort of official way, over here. Now, the obvious angle would be that Eric Holder is grasping at the News Corp scandal to deflect attention from Project Gunrunner. That’s probably a given. But wouldn’t it be interesting to be a fly on the wall at various and sundry Washington gatherings and meetings when the subject of the lunatic fringe at Fox News, and how they need to be put in their place, comes up?
The Watergate scandal was, in it’s beginnings, a third-rate burglary meant to get the goods on prominent Democrats. It is probably too early and too presumptuous to assign the term ‘third-rate’ to whatever shenanigans might be going on in attempts to get the goods on News Corp, and by extension, Fox News. But the Murdoch clan has certainly piqued the interest of both official and unofficial Washington, hasn’t it? See, RE-Electing the President, and Committees devoted to same, are a big……..deal, as Joe Biden would say.
