I say you have no clue Mr. Hawkins of what you speak. You and a few other “Conservative” blogs have been bought out by the big boys and then you claim, its all over? How un-entrepreneurial of you. We here at Unified Patriots are a group of Constitutional Conservatives, who enjoy the game, what game? the game of ripping apart the left. We don’t get paid, we don’t need be paid, we answered the call of the 24/7/365 campaign the Democrats have thrust upon this great nation. We may not get 100K hits a day but we get 1500 to 2000 on a good day and we just started in February of this year, 2011. It is because we see something and then we say something, we do not let the media wing of the Democrat Party control the message any longer. We have original writing and we have normal blog writing, even sending links your way. What we will not do is succumb to the twists and knives in the backs of good Conservatives by inside the beltway BOUGHT and OWNED by bigger corporations bloggers, hell that isn’t even very Conservative is it? no, its really pretty pathetic!
The Slow, Painful Coming Death Of The Independent, Conservative Blogosphere
Find a way to dramatically increase the size of your blog, expand into multiple websites that together are big, hook up with someone who’s already big, or accept that there isn’t much of a future in a small, niche market for you. Maybe that sounds a little grim, but unless something changes, independent conservative bloggers who haven’t already made it big don’t have a bright future.
I think John is missing the bigger picture and I’ve never accepted much of what some call blogging today as actual independent conservative blogging – which is not to say it isn’t conservative, or Right-side media, valuable, or a positive thing. For me, pure blogging will always be one guy, or gal launching their own platform to write, rant, or whatever it is they might choose to do with it.
The term may be serviceable to describe the explosive growth in paid on-line pundits and journalists; however, what that might say, or not say, about actual blogging is another matter. John doesn’t offer any data to demonstrate growth, shrinkage, or fluctuations in the numbers of pure bloggers, Left or Right, over the years. I suspect some people start them, some quit them and the beat goes on. That’s a wonderful thing. But it needn’t be a ticket to the big time to be deemed successful. In my view, the blogosphere is and has always been important due to its mass, long-tail, or number of voices, however small, in aggregation – and not because this, or that site grew an audience.
To me, that’s professional Right-side new media and from Hot Air, to Human Events, to Breitbart – where I work – it’s still growing. So, what’s the bitch? It’s the big picture that matters most in the long term. Let’s take a real quick look at that.
Mr. Hawkins, one final thought on your write-up, we here at Unified Patriots have every intention of being here when others fold up shop, so to try to discourage we newbies or someone thinking about starting up is pretty sad and says more about the person you have become in the years since you started, then what Conservative blogging has and will become!
