What manner of man is this?
Recently, the American people have had to endure several news conferences given by this president. I say “endure” because any time we’ve had to listen to this man ramble, stumble, spin and outright prevaricate, the American people have endured pain. While we’ve been listening, we’ve also been observing. His recent behavior is giving more clues to his personal issues. When he is forced off script, or can’t control all the players, he demonstrates a temperament that is at odds with the previously-touted cool persona. As his presidency moves on, and the problems of the nation worsen under his leadership, he is getting hot under the collar. Think about his recent tantrums – storming out of the debt ceiling meetings – a grown man, let alone the president of the United States, can’t keep his cool under a little adversity. Can’t keep his cool when people tell him no. He has made the news cycle in ways he certainly can’t be (nor his handlers) happy about. Childish, temper tantrums, and narcissistic are words being used to describe this man who is our president. This past week the WH instructed the press that they could not “shout” questions at the president. Really, can’t shout questions? I imagine they feel they have to shout a question, because 1) they won’t be called upon if they are perceived as “unfriendly,” and 2) you really have to interrupt Mr. Obama to get a word in edgewise.
While most of us from “our” side of the aisle agree Mr. Obama struggles with spontaneous unscripted settings, it is becoming more obvious, with each public appearance, that this is a man not only under stress, but not holding it together. The debt ceiling issue is showing more and more an individual who confirms that he really is nothing more than a petulant individual who never was told “no.” One can almost picture him gritting his teeth, palms sweaty, and if he even had a tie on with a buttoned up shirt, he likely is doing everything he can to resist running his fingers around the collar to loosen it. This is what happens to a man who can’t stand the heat, can’t stand adversity, and has been protected his entire adult life from obstacles; he would have been better-off if he had faced those obstacles as they arose. He would have learned from them, and he would have grown. Instead he has been handed everything.
What manner of man is this?
A nation not only desires for their leader to be strong in the eyes of the world, they need him to be strong in their own eyes. The rugged individualism that pushed America’s frontiers west, and settled a harsh land in harsh times, incorporates a strength of ego and character within. We look for a president to not sound petulant every time he opens his mouth, We look for a president who isn’t constantly whiny. Huffing and puffing and threatening to “blow the House down” doesn’t really cut it with the American people. I used to be furious and angry when I’d hear him insult the American people with his pathetic pathos, all built on political spin and outright lies. Now, I am just embarrassed for him, and more importantly, I wonder what members of his own Party are thinking. How can they not see through this guy, and that he isn’t going to be able to pull off this theatrical production they’ve counted on to takeover this country? For some time Mr. Obama has embarrassed America on the world stage. Now, as he confronts domestic issues, and exacerbation of problems his administration and policies have caused, he is embarrassing himself. He said, “eat our peas.” Mr. president, when I heard that as a child, it made me gag. Speaking to the American people as if they were kindergartners, and then storming out of a room full of adults, elected to represent the American people, is kindergartner behavior, unbecoming to a man about to be 50 years old. Unless, and I say unless, you’ve never grown up or ever had to work for anything that you have. And herein lies the crux of what is really eating Obama…
I believe that deep down inside of Barack Obama, he knows that everything he has he did not earn. Not one thing. All of it is the result of Affirmative Action, and political expediency on the part of the Left who found him and groomed him for this time, for their purposes. The tragedy for him, is that nothing is going to fix that, and because of what he was given, without working, achieving or earning, he can never have self-respect, let alone the respect of others. This is what is going to continue to drive this man, finally recognizing that he himself is a fraud, something created by others’ hands, not his own. The Leftists used him, and as his true weakness is revealed – that he doesn’t really have substance, he won’t be able to hold the veneer together. This is why we see the “angry” Obama.
We’ve joked for a couple of years that the “emperor has no clothes.” This is much more serious than people realize. We know the story from Hans Christian Andersen’s fable about the Emperor and his new clothes. The roots of the fable go back as far as the 13th century and has had numerous variations, but still all relating in some way to a moral to the story, either about human nature, selfishness, delusions, sarcasm, political intrigue, etc. But here is an interesting quote from Andersen himself that connects to an issue with Obama. When Andersen was a child, he and his mother were at a parade where their king, Frederick Vl, made an appearance. Andersen is reported to have said, “Oh, he’s nothing more than a human being!”
How will Barack Obama handle finding out that he is nothing more than a human being? What will he do when it is revealed that he isn’t a demi-god after all? More importantly, what will the Left do when they find out that their Madison Avenue creation cannot hold it together and keep up the facade until 2012? He is on edge now, stressed and angry. Yes, he is narcissistic, but I think his pathology goes deeper, and as we’ve seen, his mask is slipping. All those golfing excursions and expensive campaign donor parties are not revitalizing him. This transformation and unmasking of Obama is happening before the American peoples’ eyes. It is happening before the press corp and the media, even his sycophants can’t cover for him.
The American people have not previously had the context for this type of president, this type of man is not in their definition of leadership or presidency. It is shocking for us to find out that we’ve elected a man to be in charge of the most powerful nation on earth, who, when unmasked, will reveal a pathetic piteous figure. Unfortunately for the Left, Americans might pity someone, but they will not respect someone they pity.
2012 is just around the corner. The American people need to keep up the pressure, strip the man bare so to speak, expose him and his Leftist friends for who they really are – individuals who collectively have sought to destroy America from within. The election of 2012 must return this country to the leadership of an individual who truly represents America, at her finest, and who isn’t a self-centered, fabricated illusion.
