Stand Down, Gentlemen

Rest in Peace

Give me, my God, what you still have;

give me what no one asks for.
I do not ask for wealth, nor success,
nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,
that you cannot have any left.
Give me, my God, what you still have.
Give me what people refuse to accept from you.
I want insecurity and disquietude;
I want turmoil and brawl.

And if you should give them to me,

my God, once and for all,
let me be sure to have them always,
for I will not always
have the courage to ask for them.

  1. Thank you St George for your steadfastness in bringing us these postings; nobody else seems to have the courage & persistence to do so. If only circumstances would allow you a long vacation from it…

    To each of our heroes and their loved ones: may the Lord who gave you life also give you the peace that passes all human understanding. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice from this grateful citizen of a grateful nation.

  2. You three made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of Freedom. America has always been generous, but more so than any other nation in the world, she gives her blood so that others may know freedom from tyranny.

    May God comfort your loved ones and friends left behind. May you rest in the arms of His angels.
