and the Cello Sings Harmony

SSG Michael J Garcia, 27, of Bossier City, LA

died 4 July, in Logar Province, Afghanistan,  from an IED

He was of 63rd Ordnance Bn, 52nd Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), 20th Support Command

Stand Down, Sergeant

Rest in Peace

Give me, my God, what you still have;

give me what no one asks for.
I do not ask for wealth, nor success,
nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,
that you cannot have any left.
Give me, my God, what you still have.
Give me what people refuse to accept from you.
I want insecurity and disquietude;
I want turmoil and brawl.

And if you should give them to me,

my God, once and for all,
let me be sure to have them always,
for I will not always
have the courage to ask for them.

  1. We feel a profound sadness in learning of this loss: for the country, and for those closest to this hero. Only God knows the hurt and only God can heal the wound. Bless all our military and those who have served.
