and the Cello Sings Harmony….

SSG Donald V Stacy, 23, of Avondale, AZ

died 28 June  in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan from an IED attack

He was  of 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division

Stand Down, Sergeant

Rest in Peace

Give me, my God, what you still have;
give me what no one asks for.
I do not ask for wealth, nor success,
nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,
that you cannot have any left.
Give me, my God, what you still have.
Give me what people refuse to accept from you.
I want insecurity and disquietude;
I want turmoil and brawl.

And if you should give them to me,

my God, once and for all,
let me be sure to have them always,
for I will not always
have the courage to ask for them.

  1. Dammit, this is why I loathe reading these posts. I was in Fallujah with 1Panther in 03-04. I am proud to say I am still friends with many of the members of that fine organization.

    All The Way, H Minus!

    Let me skip the poem and just add a quote, from LTG James Gavin, Commander, 82nd Airborne Division, “Show me a man who will jump out of an airplane and I’ll show you a man who will fight for his country.”
