Kissed by an Angel, Where Violins are the Angels Voices,

and the Cello Sings Harmony

PFC Joshua L Jetton, 21, of Sebring, FL

died 20 June in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, when his unit came under attack from small arms fire

He was of 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division

Stand Down, Soldier

Rest in Peace

Give me, my God, what you still have;
give me what no one asks for.
I do not ask for wealth, nor success,
nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,
that you cannot have any left.
Give me, my God, what you still have.
Give me what people refuse to accept from you.
I want insecurity and disquietude;
I want turmoil and brawl.

And if you should give them to me,

my God, once and for all,
let me be sure to have them always,
for I will not always
have the courage to ask for them.

  1. The 27th Infantry Regiment is one of 2 American Regiments to have fought on Soviet soil. The 27th Infantry so impressed the Russian High Command they were presented with a Wolfhound, and the accompanying nickname, “Wolfhounds.” I knew Kolchack V who was easily angered and often found his way out of his kennel and then entertained himself by “treeing” the CQ and CQ Runners of the Brigade (3rd BCT, 25th IN (L)).

    There are ample members of the Wolfhounds awaiting this young man in Valhalla to make him welcome and help him forget his woes. May God expend his grace upon this young man’s family and friends to help them through this trying time.

    All The Way, young man!
