What Can You Say On Memorial Day?

Words matter, but never express the whole thing when we try to pay tribute to Americans who gave all in defense of our wonderful country. So I will just repeat the advice of Angelia Phillips, Gold Star mother and pro-troop activist- if you want to honor the fallen, help those who are here with us now – the families left behind, the recovering wounded, the veterans and the currently serving.

I had the good fortune a few years ago to observe the arrival of an Honor Flight at Reagan National Airport.  This program provides recognition to the veterans of World War II, whose numbers are sadly diminishing with time, who protected this country when civilization itself hung in the balance. When the flight came in, waiting passengers spontaneously burst into applause as the veterans deplaned. As is right and proper, because actions speak louder than words.

There are so many organizations who help our military. So if there is one that you would like to recognize this weekend, why not post a comment?

And now, just a couple of pictures from the Honor Flight….

Passengers applauding...

living graces!

    • Penguin- I am so very sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies to you, your husband who lost his Dad, and your children who lost Grandpa.. I remember you saying that he was not doing well a while ago. My prayers are with you and your family Lady P.

  1. Coming out of the grocery store today, there was a guy with his little cup of “Buddy” Poppies from the VFW. My husband and I never pass by the VFW. We never pass by the Salvation Army either.

The sad thing is that this past Christmas season, there was a guy outside of a Sam’s Club, supposedly ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, which he later was found guilty of robbing.

I am so very saddened that we have come to looking at everyone, and every organization, which at one time you knew were there for nothing but helping their cause.

It is absolutely disgusting that the Liberals have destroyed everything that was once good, with feelings and questions as to are these people real or fake. If the Poppy man was fake, I at least gave him a buck for his needs.

    • The poor we shall always have with us. The criminal we shall always have as well. Thankfully, there are many worthy org’s who tend to the needs of our veterans, their families, and those who came back less than whole.
