Obama’s new G-chip in your phone: there’ll be an app for that.

There'll be an app for that...

Obama just gave small app developers and offshore cell phone sellers a huge boon.

Obama, FEMA and the FCC are going to put a new G-chip in your mobile phone.   So they can text you any time they like.

At a press conference today in New York City, mayor Bloomberg,  FEMA, and the FCC told reporters that the system, called PLAN (Personal Localized Alert Network) would require new chips in your cell phone and software on board to support the system.  It’ll be in use in NYC and Washington DC this year, and the rest of the country next year; probably prior to November.

Somehow, a system called PLAN dedicated to government instant texting of citizens suggests just the opposite.  A government that planned wisely would probably be able to keep instant texts to citizens to a bare minimum.  But we all know planning is not government’s strong suit.

But I digress.

The system will allow you to opt-out of all messages… except those from the President.

I can just see today’s text from our Comforter-in-Chief SEAL-Commander-in-Chief: “I flew to Texas today to collect my early TX campaign contributions.  Saw a flooded Mississippi River and wildfires in TX; too bad for them.  VOTE FOR ME!”

I predict at least two things:  sales of ‘World’ phones from foreign vendors will rise perceptibly.  Downloads of apps to defeat the G-chip will be very, very popular (perhaps you’ll be able to download them from GOP.org).   They’ll probably have to pass a law making a G-chip-defeating app illegal to install on your phone.  A third thing: Visitors who come here from overseas will be able to bring a few extra cell phones for casual sale and pay for their trip!

But one thing bothers me.   I have already opted-in to my community’s nixle network where my city and sheriff can text me with public safety news.  Obama and FEMA can already text me anytime they wish, if my city police or sheriff agree that a threat exists.

So what else will that new G-chip on my phone do?

  1. Okay, Ron, now just stop and think. Add this to all the other things – the ACORN things, the OfA things, the DOI land grabs, the EPA edicts, the FCC, Obama telling people to shut up, the DOJ scandals, the humiliation of NASA and the military, too many to mention here. Suing AZ. Anita Dunn, Craig Becker, Van Jones. The lame duck session push. The Adventures of Bill Ayers in the Middle East. Obama does not have time to plan all of this, and neither do his close advisors. They seem to be coming faster and faster. Are the Blackberry conversations part of the Presidential record?

    • The bureaucrats have plenty of time to plan this stuff – and they figure rightly that they can advance programs like this under an administration like Obama’s.

True, Obama does not have the time (or th imagination) to come up with all this by himself, but he is the big government bureaucrats wet dream… come true.

      • They think they own us. There’s no telling what they’ll do with us once they get access to our communication devices.

Anyone who thinks the Democrats are a party of freedom is nuts. They only want free drugs, unfettered sex and abortion. Everything else is to be regulated to death.
