Barack’s WTF Foreign Policy

And no, I don’t mean Winning the Future.

Christians in Egypt are facing martyrdom. Not the fake “I’m Going To Murder You And Kill Myself For Glory And The Ability To Rape 72 Virgins” kind of martyrdom, but the real kind, where someone kills you because of your religious beliefs.

This is not the first time, and it won’t be the last:

Cairo (CNN) — Muslim-Christian sectarian violence intensified in Egypt this weekend, spurring an emergency meeting of the Cabinet and public exhortations from Coptic Christians for international protection.

At least 12 people were killed and 232 others were wounded in sectarian clashes outside a Cairo church, according to state TV. Officials said violence began over rumors that a Christian woman who converted to Islam was being held at the church against her will.

Prime Minister Essam Sharaf postponed a trip to Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to discuss the church attack and hold the emergency meeting, according to EgyNews, Egypt’s official news agency.

A small group of Coptic Christians gathering near the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Sunday called for international protection of Egypt’s Christian community and condemned the government for not doing more to protect them.

And as usual, the Obama Administration reacts in the most craven, gutless, foolish manner imaginable. (Mind you, foolish is not the word I want to use, but this is a family website.) The official response of the United States, as proposed by Dear Leader? Give them money.

The Obama administration has decided to provide about $1 billion in debt relief for Egypt, a senior official said Saturday, in the boldest U.S. effort yet to shore up a key Middle East ally as it attempts a democratic transition.

The aid would be part of a major economic aid package that also includes trade and investment incentives, officials said. It is intended to help stabilize Egypt after demonstrations forced out longtime President Hosni Mubarak on Feb. 11.

That’s right. The same administration that turned its back on rebels in Iran, that defended Bashar al-Assad as a reformer while he was in the midst of murdering Syrian citizens, that has utterly and totally bungled any semblance of credibility in Libya, and who even now pretends that the power of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is no big deal, has decided the best way to bring Peace In Our Time to the ME is to give cash to Egypt, even while they systematically murder Christians and enable the ascendancy of a terrorist organization to power.

More than 50,000 people on Saturday attended a joint rally held by the Muslim Brotherhood group and Salafis in Haram district, Giza.

The organizers chanted slogans stating that the Brotherhood and the Salafis are one, and that both seek to apply the Islamic Sharia.

I suspect that following the upcoming election, these chickens will come home to roost for President Present.

A tangible example of the organization’s influence was a recent referendum on constitutional amendments in the nation’s first post-Mubarak balloting, the Times reported. Among other things, the amendments call for an accelerated election process so parliamentary contests can be held before September, followed by a presidential race. That expedited calendar is seen as advantageous to the organized and highly networked Brotherhood and the remains of Mubarak’s National Democratic Party.

The more secular coalition behind the uprising said more liberal forces must organize quickly.

“I worry about going too fast towards elections, that the parties are still weak,” said Nabil Ahmed Helmy, former dean of the Zagazig University law school in Egypt and a member of the National Council for Human Rights. “The only thing left right now is the Muslim Brotherhood. I do think that people are trying to take over the revolution.”

Meanwhile, as our nation is led by a feckless, weak-willed coward, Christians all over the world need to be praying for our oppressed brethren in these demon possessed lands.

Obambi would put some effort into these gathering storms, but it would detract from his Spiking The Ball Victory Tour and golf game. Maybe next time.
