The denizens of Washington DC, struggling in the midst of “the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression”. Some were even reduced to serving discount brie on their pleasure boats!
Sometimes a picture IS worth a thousand words. I took the photo above on a trip to Washington DC in 2009, where I stumbled across that monument to refined leisure known as the Georgetown Washington Harbor complex. Now, I don’t begrudge the people of the nation’s capital the right to livin’ large. But they should do it on their dime, not ours!
The late, and highly missed, Dave Hinz will always be remembered for being a trailblazer in citizen journalism. And the rise of digital photography has given all of us the ability to follow that path. Thus, we are introducing #PhotoUP, where you can post photos of interest to the UP community and the patriot world at large. Just upload your photo, write up a brief description, and post in Patriot Dispatches (if news-oriented) or For Fun (if, well, funny!).
Let the citizen journalists come forth!
