America’s Future If Obama Succeeds

Socialism has never worked, will never work, and yet is tried over and over again, to the detriment of a Country’s citizens. It seems that each faculty lounge professor believes that if only he, ie: Obama, tries it, surely it will work here in America. Well its not even working in the socialists countries What Have You Wrought Spain?

The numbers for the fourth quarter of 2010 — 20.33% unemployment and almost 4.7 million jobless — already represented the highest joblessness rate in 13 years.

The latest numbers, for the first quarter of this year, added more somber news. The number of unemployed increased by 213,000, pushing the overall number to 4.9 million.

All major sectors — industry, construction, services and agriculture — shed jobs during the quarter. The number of Spanish households in which no adult had a job increased by 58,000, to a new total of 1.38 million, the government said.

Earlier this month, embattled Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero announced he would not seek a third term. Elections are due by March 2012.

For months, Zapatero’s Socialists have trailed in opinion polls behind the main opposition conservative Popular Party.

In announcing his decision on April 2 to Socialist Party leaders, Zapatero said, “We have made mistakes.”

Made mistakes? I think the mistake that was made was deciding that a free market economy does not lift all people (well except for the lazy), and really doesn’t Socialism reward laziness and PUNISH success? Yes, yes it does!

  1. Jaded, keep on repeating this message that socialism in its purist and traditional form can not succeed.

Socialism, in the more traditional and purist form, seeks to eradicate capitalism. By doing it, this causes a closed-loop economically. The closed-loop is unsustainable in the long run, which is what so many other countries who have gone down this path are learning the hard way.

There was a comment George Soros made about China coming closest to the “ultimate society”. China reached a point of recognizing that the closed-loop was unsustainable, at which point it began to go in the direction of utilizing capitalism (particular in the form of international trade) as a means to an end to bring ‘fresh” money into the loop in order for socialism to survive. China represents a modern approach to socialism where capitalism is seen as a necessary evil.

Obama and our own socialists in the US have chosen to take a traditional approach, which is scary as the dickens and could easily lead to what you’ve described as taking place in Spain.

BTW, I agree with your assessment that our progressives and/or socialists seem to be determined to believe that they can succeed where others have failed…maybe because they think of themselves as being so intellectually superior?
