Feelin’ The Bambi Luv

President Obama…sinking in the polls and golfing with Legislators he helped get un-elected… was heard through a microphone (that wasn’t supposed to be on whilst chillin’ with donors) saying a few things that give us a little more insight into what life is like when you’re trying to save a country from a piss-poor President:

In the candid remarks, Mr. Obama complains of Republican attempts to attach measures to the budget bill which would have effectively killed parts of his hard-won health care reform program.

“I said, ‘You want to repeal health care? Go at it. We’ll have that debate. You’re not going to be able to do that by nickel-and-diming me in the budget. You think we’re stupid?'” recalled the president of his closed-door negotiations on the bill to fund the federal government until September.
[snip]
Speaking into a microphone which he may not have realized was still relaying his remarks to the White House press room — where Knoller had been listening to earlier remarks that were open to the press — Mr. Obama bemoaned GOP leaders’ attempts to attach a measure to the budget bill which would have cut funding for Planned Parenthood.

“Put it in a separate bill,” the president said he told Boehner and his staff. “We’ll call it up. And if you think you can overturn my veto, try it. But don’t try to sneak this through.”

Can you feel the love people?

Missing in that little display of chest-thumping in the echo chamber were any reminders to his peeps about the number of times (and the ingenious ways in which) Democrats did precisely the same thing under the Bush “regime.” “Slow Bleed” the Troops without de-funding the war in a Supplemental a few years back anyone?

It’s ok though…just WAIT ’til we hear him whine when Ryan’s bill gets debated; microphone check is your friend Mr. President.

There's not much to say... I come from a long line of Appalachian folk that landed in America long before flipping off the King was even a twinkle in the eyes of our founding fathers. We have been Carpenters and coal miners... Soldiers & Sailors and pig farmers and Sunday morning circuit-riding preachers. Hell, I'm told we have even been fairly decent bootleggers too.

  1. Another one that struck me right between the eyes, was his comment that “you can’t nickle and dime me”. To me, it just shows that he feels as though every nickle and dime of the spending authority he considers his own money. Not your money, not my money, but it is all his money. And for all intents and purposes it is. It is his to spend on his cronies, buddy-pals, unions, community fraud-meisters et al in order to retain the big chair for himself.
