Debt ceiling crashes – Rope sales plummet [Updated]

File under Marketwatch

The rope sector is in disarray with the bombshell news of Speaker of the House John Boehner’s hard line on the upcoming debt ceiling battle. He vows he will not present a clean debt ceiling bill in the House:

In remarks to donors this weekend Speaker Boehner has warned:

if Obama wants an up or down vote on the debt ceiling he’s not going to get it.

In Sunday’s Face the Nation broadcast, comes news that will devastate the rope market:

There will not be an increase in the debt limit without something really, really big attached to it.

Elderly and market makers are particularly hard hit. Shouldda shorted, buckos.

[UPDATE] 5:11PM AZ BOE – Tar and feathers futures decline precipitously – worst downward move in 3 years. Colonel Sanders unavailable for comment, although his agent said the Colonel may be making a comeback if the donkeys ever face up to reality.

[UPDATE 2] 5:31PM CME – Effigy Services shuttered, rocking the world’s largest exchange. Anarchists crestfallen and turning to drink.

[UPDATE 3] 5:32PM – Left coast lefties regard rope overstock sales on Craig’s List as terrorism, and Santa Monica’s mayor has ordered out the National Guard, the CIA, and Hogan’s Heroes.

[UPDATE 4] 6:35PM – Encrypted message from South of the RINO/TEAPARTY line: Boehner victorious in striking down the ban on the incandescent lightbulb. Elitist scumbags scurry to pledge to raise the debt level before the Democrat Media call them bad names and take away their golf club privileges.

  1. Good post Redneck. I find it interesting that even with the articles floating on the Web today, asking for Boehners head in a noose, the comments have been about 50/50 for and against his deal. You are correct, I don’t see effigy or rope sales driving the stock market tomorrow.

    • My point of view has been that if they didn’t get a deal on defunding Obamacare (or at least a floor vote), then any cuts were pretty meaningless. I don’t trust Reid any further than I can throw a couch, so we shall see what goes on.
