HomePatriot DispatchesWhen you stand up to evil.... Boehner blinks for you.

When you stand up to evil…. Boehner blinks for you.

Scratch that last post.

More symbolic votes in the Senate so the Republican establishment can say, “oh well, we tried.”
I am rather tired of pundits on the right carrying the water of liquid kneed Republicans like Boehner with the , “They only control 1/2 of 1/3 of 1/4 of 1/5 of 1/6 of the government.” lie.
The House controls spending totally. Because if they don’t approve it, it does not get spent. Yes I realize we have the “essential” personnel still up and running.
Why are they not passing one allocation at a time and foregoing omnibus spending? Flood the Senate with The Paycheck for Troops Act, the National Parks Funding Act, the State Dept issues Passports Act, …..
Let the Dems drop each in the Senate. Or, let a couple of Republicans in the Senate force them to the floor for a vote.

No what we get when the people finally stand up to evil in a big way, as they did in 1994 or 2010, we get a Gingrich or a Boehner to blink for them.

Who wants to bet nickels that when Boehner gets his next chance to force an issue, ala the debt ceiling, he is able to masterfully force the senate to vote on, and naturally REJECT, a series of issues near and dear to conservatives?

A have a notion for you Boehner, If you don’t have a government shutdown you aren’t pushing hard enough.

The 2012 question must be to find candidates who resolve during the campaign that they WILL NOT SUPPORT Boehner for Speaker.

  1. Well, Rogue, we have a big column up at NRO, one of THE premier conservative pubs, saying Boehner wins big. Drudge leads with “Winning”. So who are us hicks out here in Indiana to believe, NRO and Drudge …..or you and …..Mark Levin? 🙂

    • Boehner and Charlie….. Winning.

This deal does not save as much as was borrowed during the negotiation. Bankruptcy looms this doesn’t help.

I was wrong about Gingrich all these years, he had more guts than this and faced a much more formidable opponent in Clinton.

    • Stupidski. And then there is this: We have been treated to this “Are the troops going to get paid? When are the troops going to get paid? Do they get paid directly out of the Treasury? Does Obama pay them?” All that. My question is, are the troops going to get FED? The answer, of course, is “Of course the troops will get fed. We’re not going to let them starve!” And so my next question would be “Bullets?” What we have to do is stop letting THEM ask the questions, letting THEM set the agenda and THEM establish the premises. THEM being the politicians and the media, whatever they call themselves.

  2. Well you can tell Boehner never learned to play stare ’em down with his siblings as a child.

I agree Rogue, one budget item at a time. Break it down into increments, see what is already purchased on hand, and proceed.

When was the last time Congress and the Government learned to budget, make do or do without….

  3. Boy, Rogue, you’re not happy in the least. For a first time in the ring, I think he did all right. He can do better, and will have a chance shortly to prove it. Beating the left, not shutting down the govt is the objective here, at least in my view. You are right tho, that in order to be speaker next time around, he’s going to have to get 87 2nd termers’ votes, plus 40 more Freshmen. I doubt he can. I can live with that.

    • We won a PR battle, which will only be significant if it affects how Obama and Reid now perceive Boehner after the look in the eye.

I agree with Rogue that unless we have a shutdown, then we haven’t pushed hard enough, BUT I do not favor playing games of chicken over the debt ceiling, ie the full faith and credit of the US.

That’s one reason why I favored a showdown on bigger numbers earlier. more later

  4. Thx Pamela.

You are right about me VB. Mad.

Why does the left get generals that fight while we get generals that fight us.

If Boehner had arrived here on his own I might see it different but we had to drag him this far. I see no reason to carry him the rest of the way. Let’s get generals that fight the enemy instead of us.

    • We just have a different take on things, Rogue. I think that first face-off is a big deal, any where, any time. Right now you’re more interested in what Boehner didn’t do for you, but I care more about what he did to Reid.

      A lot.

We’ll show up together very soon. If I’m wrong I’ll buy you a plate of bread with soup. Good bread and good soup.

      • It’ll all come out in the wash as they say.

I agree about the importance of the first face off.

Boehner can’t do anything for me either way. I have never had a use for any politician.

        Hope you are right.
Id rather be wrong and buy.
