In the past few weeks, at great cost, we have learned that our intelligence services do not have a clue as to who the players are in the Libyan conflict, much less what they intend.  We have also learned that our defense establishment, along with our intelligence services, doesn’t know what capabilities these forces, that we don’t know the identity of, possess.

He said Nato had no previous information that the rebels were using tanks and added that rapid troop movements on the ground between Brega and Ajdabiya were making it difficult forpilots to identify targets

We also have learned that our political and military commanders do know, without qualification, the effect that the implementation of the repeal of the Don’t Ask, Don’t tell policy will be on the performance of the military and the …..securing of…..peace.  The reason we know that is that they have been quite emphatic about the amount of time and effort they have put into achieving this objective.  See, our Congress critters, themselves some of the best and the brightest, have been grilling these commanders unmercifully about their preparations for repeal of DADT.  They want to make sure that these commanders, and their advisors, and the consultants they bring in from various concerned groups, are fully up to snuff when operation DADT Repeal is launched.  They want to know how they identify the people involved, what their motivations and outlooks are, and if and how they are equipped to handle the mission they are going to be engaged in.  Yes, our Congress critters are insuring that our military commanders and defense experts have their priorities in order.

     Gravitas.  It’s what’s for dinner.

    • Yeah, you do. 2011, A Desert Odyssey, or Operation Odyssey Dawn, whatever they’re calling it, they think they can just put it on pause and go do other things, like, oh, volunteer work. recycling efforts, anti-discrimination hearings. It’s all good, you know. Sad thing is, the military is up for it, too. Good soldiers, dontchaknow. And we’ve got Republican Senators “B-b-b-but General Casey said it’s a good thing!”
