Greetings from the State of WI! As some of you are aware we had a very important election yesterday for our State Supreme Court that pitted a conservative vs a union supported liberal. Well, it appears that the liberal won by 204 votes. She has declared victory but the race has not been conceded and will be contested for recount. There have been several irregularities reported and word is they will be looked at this time. What I mean by that is that there have been several elections where questionable activities have taken place but no one pushed the issue.
This time we have missing ballot boxes, shredded ballots (cast and then not counted) and areas where there is a discrepancy of several thousand votes in the same district for different races (i.e. more votes for the court race than for mayor).
Even though on the surface this may be looked at as a defeat for Gov. Scott Walker (barring recount/court challenge) this is actually a victory. If you look at the state overall you see that outside of two very liberal areas (Dane County [Madison area] and Milwaukee), the conservative candidate won 53-47! This does not bode well for any recall efforts against Republicans, barring one, and may even allow the Republicans to gain the clear majority in the State Senate!
All this after massive union backed efforts. All of the businesses that were directly threatened by boycott are having record sales!
There is some concern over law enforcement in some areas (DA and patrol levels) where the action, or lack thereof, was based on a political preference.
Will try to keep posting on this as I learn more and get better at this type of thing.
